Trout had to Power 2 Different Comebacks

Yesterday’s game was pretty crazy…so much so that Mike Trout had to power 2 different comebacks. Opposed to the game on Sunday where the Angels took the lead in the 2nd inning and Tyler Skaggs held it, Nick Tropeano had some issues on Monday.

Trout sparks 2 rallies

Perhaps we should look into patenting the Rally Trout because so many times it’s up to Mike Trout to rally the team to victory. He rallied them twice on Monday as they were behind 5–3 in the 6th when he was involved in a 3 run rally and then tied 6–6 in the 8th when he kicked off another 3 run rally. He ended the game 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored and clearly takes my Player of the Game.

The other notable contributor was Jefry Marte who went 4 for 4 with a home run in the 6th. Though he dominated the KC pitching, as a team the Angels nabbed 14 hits which was a definitely good sign. Upton went 3 for 4 and Pujols went 2 for 4 to power an offense that look like it might be waking up a bit…I hope so.

Sadly though, the good pitching of the starters and Nick Tropeano in particular took a blow as he only lasted 4 2/3 innings and gave up 5 runs. His offense prevented him from taking the loss though and it’s good to see the bullpen pitch pretty well too. They went 4 1/3 innings giving up only a single run. Hopefully this is a sign of positive things to come from the bullpen.

Today, Andrew Heaney (2–4, 3.66 ERA) takes the mound for the Angels against Brad Keller (1–2, 2.13 ERA) and hopefully the good pitching the starters put together in May shows back up. Heaney didn’t do so well last game, going 5 innings and giving up 5 runs, but he did hold KC to 3 runs in a previous outing.
