Frustrated with WoW
This is my level 85 Druid. She is very adept at healing, able to keep everyone alive in 5 man heroics, and she usually ends up as one of the top 2-3 healers during LFR runs. She’s not the best geared, but I have no issues at 387 iLevel. I really like my druid and I like healing with her, but I haven’t taken her out to play for the past few weeks out of frustration.
My frustration stems from the randomness of the LFR loot system.
My frustration stems from the fact that I can not acquire a Maw.
More precisely, I have been unable to attain The Maw of the Dragonlord, and it has made me sad.
It isn’t that I haven’t had opportunities – I’ve probably seen upwards of 30 of them drop and have watched them all get snatched up by other (in my mind, less deserving) healers who happen to be lucky rolling a random number.
All the effort to get to level 85 and actually getting to raid now that LFR is in the game and it comes down to a random number.
It is because of this random number and my inability to get lucky, that my Druid has sat idle for the past 2 weeks except for the screenshot I took this morning.
I’m sure I’ll give LFR another try soon. Try to nab the elusive maw. Try to roll that random number just right so I can earn my goal.
But there is nothing I can do – nothing to learn, nothing to defeat, nothing to purchase, nothing to grind – that can help me attain this one thing that will make my druid happy.
So I wait another week…

I haven’t played World of Warcraft this entire last expansion, but man have I been where you are now a million times before. I get why companies still do random loot drops, but I really wish they didn’t. For some, it may feel a little too mechanical to just get various zone specific currency/quest rewards/reputation-locked buyables to get new stuff, but man am I in love with the idea.
I am more than tired of being ruled over by the Dice Gods.
What really gets me is the gambling aspect of it – I mean reaching level 85 is an accomplishment, defeating a boss is an achievement, but gearing up my chracter is governed by random events. I don’t let this hold me back from playing a game mostly (sorry you have sat out Catacylsm – there are some fun parts), but I certainly agree with you that the Dice Gods are fickle and I too am tired of them controling things
