August 2020 Gaming Plans

About a month ago I put together my thoughts on the games I wanted to get into during the month of July and now I’m gonna do it for August. Maybe I’ll play all the games I want to focus on this month as opposed to how things worked out in July.

Games of the Month

With ComicCon@Home in the rear view mirror it’s time to get rolling into August. Lately, August has meant Blaugust and 31 days of crazy posting but this year we did that in April. Instead, this year has Promptapalooza but that won’t impact the games I chose to play this month.

My tentative list of games I would like to focus on this month is as follows:

• Destiny 2
• Out of the Park Baseball 21
• World of Warcraft
• Nioh
• Horizon Zero Dawn

These are gonna be my primary 5 but I like to throw in at least one or two extra so…

• Lord of the Rings Online
• Civilization VI

Adjustments to my Gaming Plans

As I pointed out yesterday, I ended up playing a bunch of League of Legends last month and didn’t get around to some of the games I planned on playing. With that in mind, I’m gonna drop out of a couple of games, namely Secret World Legends and EverQuest. Four MMOs was just too much to try to focus on during the month so I’m only gonna go with World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings this month. My thinking here is that I want to level up in WoW before the expansion arrives and I want to figure out a plan for LOTRO.

Destiny as well is a choice because of an impending expansion. I’d like to get to experience the content that is gonna be shelved before it goes away.

OOTP, Nioh, and LOTRO are all carryovers because I have unfinished business but I’m adding Horizon Zero Dawn which is coming to the PC this month and I’m bringing Civ VI back. I haven’t given the new content a chance in Civ VI so I figured it would be good to try it out.

So once again I have 5+2 games to target for the Month and while there is no Comic-Con in August, I can still catch up on some of the panels I didn’t get around to in July. On the whole, I think August is gonna be a lot of fun.

Promptapalooza Prompt Day 6

Today is also day 6 of Blaugust or rather it is the sixth day that we are posting a prompt for Promptapalooza. Yup, this year, Belghast over at Tales of the Aggronaut has suggested a different format…we’re gonna be posting writing prompts each day to get things rolling and to see the different perspectives on various topics in gaming, pop-culture, media, and fandoms.

I’m hoping to put on my thinking cap tonight as I sleep to figure out what to say.

It’s a Wrap

Well it may be a few days into August but I feel good about the games I’m targeting. It was time to move on from SWL and EQ. I may focus on them in a future month but for now I think Horizon Zero Dawn and Civ VI make good replacements.
