The God Butcher, Part Four of Five: The Last God In Asgard
I don’t think I ever expected to read the issue where Thor begs for death, but this is that issue.

As with the previous issues in this storyline, we see three eras of Thor’s life. In the present day, we see Thor revisiting the cave where he fought the God Butcher centuries before and he may have found something significant. Shadrak, another god Gorr did not kill provides some interesting clues as to how to find the murderer.

We also see Thor hundreds of years in the past getting tortured by the God Butcher in the cave.

And finally, we see an ancient Thor in the far future as the last god in Asgard. The rainbow bridge has been destroyed, the beautiful spires of the city are gone, and all that remains is the throne of the King of Asgard. But Thor has grown weary of sitting upon it. He’s tired of living, tired of seeing his friends and family die, tired of fighting the God Butcher.

There is quite a bit going on in this issue and I think the present day Thor is getting closer to figuring out what Gorr is up to. With the despair his old self is exhibiting, though, I’m not sure present day Thor is able to do anything about the killing of all the gods.
