Never too Late

Of course, as tends to happen, days get busy, and before I know it, August is nearly done, and with it, Blaugust 2024. I won’t let the fact that this is the last Monday of Blaugust discourage me from getting started with the event.

Happy Blaugust Everybody!

Since it’s been so long since I posted regularly, I’ve almost forgotten how to do things. WordPress is almost completely new to me; I’m getting ready to play a new legendary server, and I’m looking at a couple of different comics and books to read that are all new to me. August may almost be over, but I’m just getting started again.

Opening the Gate for Today’s Episode

  • It’s been quite a few years, but it looks like Civilization VI will finally have a successor. There are not a lot of details about what will be included yet, but I am hopeful that Civilization VII will have an excellent mobile version because I have enjoyed how closely the iPad and PC versions were for Civilization 6. I also hope they continue with the City Districts and add more victory conditions since the Religious Victory added such a twist to gameplay.
  • As twists go, I started reading Bertrand Russell’s A History of Western Philosophy a week or so ago and have made it to chapter 5. I enjoy learning about the early thinkers and am currently listening to how Pythagoras brought mathematics into philosophy. One of my plans is to dive into this book with a series of posts.
  • A baseball bat is clearly a stick, so you would think a dog would naturally fetch it. Apparently, no one told the new Bat-Dog for the Phillies minor league team, the Clearwater Threshers…check out this video.
  • Lake Mary, Florida, the Southeast US representative, won the Little League World Series in extra innings, 2 to 1, over the Asia-Pacific representative, Taiwan.
  • Boeing’s Starliner will be returning from the International Space Station without a crew, leaving the team of Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams on the station because of a multitude of issues discovered with the capsule. When will Boeing get anything right again? They are not eliciting a whole lot of confidence in their vehicles.
  • Today, I learned about patience from the 7 Good Minutes podcast. Patience is essential for mindfulness and calm, and it provides a basis for internal motivation for things like blogging and running. With patience, I focus on why I want to do the things I do and how I benefit from events like Blaugust and running races. I recognize that work is required to attain my goals, and patience will help me achieve my visions. I know I will not be the best blogger or the fastest runner, but the enjoyment I get from these activities helps my mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional aspects of life.
  • Finally, I downloaded the updates and created a Beorning – named Katmai – on the new Angmar legendary server.

Well, for a first Blaugust 2024 post I am glad to have put it together and pulled the trigger. Hopefully this will be the first of many (at least 6 more) and will get me back into the routine of regular posts. Also, I am hoping to get more gaming in to pull this back into the gaming blog direction.

Anyway, have a great day and stay healthy!
