Blaugust 2022 Day 16

Today I don’t have a lot of Rundown stuff, but I did want to mention the fact that I really love audiobooks when I have to deal with an author putting a song in their novel. I am horrible at poetry – reading and writing – and while I can sing, I really can’t figure out how to read a song in a novel. Case in point is The Hobbit. Tolkien seems to really enjoy placing songs in his stories, and when I read them, I always get thrown off. With Audiobooks, I don’t have to worry, though, since the narrator has to deal with singing, and I just get to listen. The bottom line is that if there’s a song in a book, make sure to listen to the audiobook rather than try to read the song lyrics.

I’m looking at 6 different sites today since I skipped over Cubic Creativity last time since I was unable to read any of the posts they published due to my internet. It was definitely worth the wait because I enjoyed what StalkingVengeance has to say…

StalkingVengeance over at Cubic Creativity writes about card games and video games but really likes card games. While he seems to worry about covering a variety of topics in his blog, I think it’s important to write about things you enjoy and if it’s card games, then write about them. In his post from Day 14, he also talks about creating things for himself, and so I think this follows closely with the idea that if you do something for yourself and it is good, people will come to you to read or discuss it. Next in my journey around Blaugust sites, I went over to Dice, Tokens, and Tulip and sadly, while the domain name is there, it appears that Sita has not published anything yet. There’s still time in Blaugust to participate, and we’d all love to hear your thoughts on anything.

Digital Visceral has a great post glorifying his cat and the achievement his indoor cat attained the other day. He also talks about gamification in reading which I think is so cool; I’m gonna have to check out the app he mentioned.

DarksydeTed over at Dispatches from Darksyde talked about his experiences with acupuncture and the magic that surrounds healthcare but then ties it back to his dog. I have to admit that I am a dog lover, and I enjoy the way DarksydeTed brings his four-legged friend into his blogging.

Dragons and Whimsy is a site I’ve followed for a while from previous Blaugust events, and I enjoy what Jaedia talks about. This time around, she takes a look at science fiction, horror, and fantasy books, and I always find exciting titles to take a look at from her book posts. And to think, she points me to a Dragonlance story, a series I read many a novel of – I wasn’t sure they were still publishing books in this world. I also think I’ll pick up the William Ritter novel based in the Buffy universe. Thanks for the recommendations!

Last but not least, I took a look at Endgame Viable today, who I’ve followed for a few Blaugusts, and I’m surprised to hear he spotted a coyote on the East Coast. I live on a canyon here in San Diego, and we have seen the animals quite often, but as UltrViolet witnessed, apparently, their habitat extends across North America – pretty cool. Along with the coyote discovery, I enjoy reading about how posts are generated and UltrViolet’s thoughts on the new group of MMOs that are out there.

It’s a Wrap

With this being Creator Appreciation Week I figured it would be good to highlight some more of the blogs that represent Blaugust 2022. I doubt I’ll get through all of them this week, but there are still a few weeks left to try to cover them all. So far, I am enjoying everything I’ve read. I’ve found new books, new games, and new experiences that all make me realize how great the participants of Blaugust are, and I am grateful that we have this wonderful event every year.
