Blaugust 2022 Day 4

Today I take a look at the second set of 5 blogs that are taking part in Blaugust. I’ll skip over this one since I kinda know it intimately, but that leaves us with the following 5 sites…

• Aywrens Nook – Gaming and Geek Blog
• Battle Stance
• Bio Break
• Blogging with Dragons
• Book of Jen

Some of these I’ve seen before during previous Blaugusts, some are new, and some I regularly follow throughout the year, so this should be an entertaining look at where these sites are at during Blaugust 2022.

I have to say that I admire Aywren’s blog over at Aywrens Nook – Gaming and Geek Blog. I’ve seen her run through several redesigns over the past year, and I really appreciate her aesthetic. She’s done a great job of putting things together, and from what I recall (and as she mentioned in previous posts), she abandoned WordPress and forged out on her own to build her site earlier this year. And now that I see her latest post today, I see that is exactly what she talks about. I’ve enjoyed Aywren’s musings for quite a while and definitely recommend giving her site a look and follow.

Battle Stance is a new blog to me though they were around for a few Blaugust events in the past. I’m sure I’ve looked at their site before, but I’m getting old, and unless I post something to my blog roll, I tend to forget things. This year, Nogamara is going on my list, and I’m gonna keep reading. While I’m not all that into Warcraft any more, I see that Eve Online and Guild Wars 2 are also mentioned in previous posts. And from what I can tell, we may have been in the same alliance in Eve at one point…at least we were on the same side in one of the recent wars. One thing appears to always be true about Eve, you are either with the Goons or against them, but everything seems to revolve around them.

I have been following Bio Break for a while and listening to Massively OP for years, so I’m pretty familiar with Syp. The thing that always surprises me about Syp is that he seems to follow where my thoughts go in the gaming world. He’s always talking about LOTRO and his adventures there, but in the past month, I had a hankering to get back into Rift before Gamigo shut it down. I mean, I was in on the Wildstar shutdown, the Defiance Shutdown, the City of Heroes shut down, and too many more, so I figured it would be nice to at least see a bit more of Telara before there was even any official announcement about closing it down. Then Syp got the same idea, and there he is…running around on his new Cleric. At least he pulled the trigger and jumped into the game, I still have yet to take the dive but am looking to reload the client this weekend when I get a bit of time.

Blogging with Dragons is a new site to me but one that looks to be right up my alley. I can tell from the last few posts made that Kate is an avid reader, and I’m hoping to find a few new stories to read based on her reviews. I also like the fact that she is a cat lover and proponent of Stray. While I haven’t had a chance to play that interesting game, I have it loaded on my PC and am looking forward to giving it a run soon. I’m glad to have Kate on board for Blaugust and hope she keeps this blogging thing up…it seems she’s already been doing it for 7 years but finally found us at Blaugust.

I’ve read the Book of Jen blog before and have enjoyed her insights into games and books. One thing I am a bit concerned about, though, is her dive into Diablo Immortal. I mean, I have a phone, but I can’t stand forking over boatloads of money to Blizzard. Anyway, I am just kidding since I find her pieces interesting, and I’d rather watch her play rather than get into the game myself. Anyway, I find the diversity of topics in her writing refreshing. I like to hear about games and books, but healthcare, California, politics, and birds are all welcome diversions.

I noticed on the spreadsheet that there have been a few newcomers to Blaugust since I copied my list on Day 2. I’ll get back to them and update my list once I get through listing off all the ones I found on the second day. Don’t worry – I’ll catch up with everyone.
