Success and Setbacks
While I know there are tons of horrible things in the news these days, I choose to focus on the positive and trivial. So for my positive, I look at Boeing and their first success in a long time. For my trivial, I look at my Angels and my Rambling Redshirt’s Gaming Madness tournament. I have no words to say about the big things going on, but I do have prayers and will say them for all involved.
The Rundown
First off, here are a few things of interest for today…
- The Division 2 Wins
Yesterday saw the first victory in my 8 versus 9 seed matchups, and The Division 2 moves ahead into the second round. Europa Universalis IV put up a good battle but was not able to overcome some solid quarters by The Division.
- Guild Wars 2 Starts a Comeback
Guild Wars 2 is finally showing that it wants to move ahead in the tournament. After scoring only 41 points at halftime, they dominated the 3rd-quarter with a 28-point run. They may just come back and win this thing.
- The Witcher 3 Stumbles
The Witcher 3 stumbles out of the game in a similar fashion to Guild Wars. While rated as one of the best RPGs of all time, the game has not pleased the RNG gods, who saddled it with a 4-point deficit after the first quarter. They’ve got time to come back but can’t afford to dig their hole too much deeper.
- Angels Offense on Vacation
Speaking of digging holds, my Angels keep losing to Texas. They really need to stop letting these lesser teams win. I think it’s a let-down of intensity that they need to overcome…the talent is there, and the players are the same; they just need to perform better against these teams they should be beating. Let’s hope they turn things around this weekend against a good team like Toronto.
The Goods
It’s a Good Day for Boeing!!!
I’m not too sure what to say about the successful flight of the Boeing Starliner other than it’s great to see another entry in the commercial space race. I’m glad to see that Boeing finally have had something work in their favor after the past couple of really bad years, and I’m so happy it is happening in space.
We really need to have competition in space to drive innovation and to keep progress, pushing humanity further and further into and beyond near-Earth orbit. Perhaps with the success of the Starliner, we can seriously start our trip to Mars. Maybe we will see a permanent manned base on the Moon. Maybe we can develop the technologies and vision to one day create a Star Fleet and Go Where No One Has Gone Before.
It’s a Wrap
While my team stumbles and the Witcher has a tough time, The Division takes a victory lap, Guild Wars bounces back, and Boeing can look to the future of its Starliner program.
In any case, I’m looking forward to making the rest of today a good one, and I hope you all have a great day.
