Divinity is Pulling Away
Forza enters the 2nd quarter trailing Divinity Original Sin 20 to 21, but they are looking to make a strong showing going forward.
The Pre-Game Warmup
For the second quarter, I am taking a look at how the two games compare on a number of different social and video sites. In particular, I am looking at YouTube, Twitch, and Reddit for this round.
The idea I have for scoring is that I will once again start each contestant at 15 points and set them up with a base of 50 points for the RNG roll, to begin with. Then I will add 10 points for each category that the game has a following, so if they have some recent YouTube videos, they will get 10 points to add to their 50, and RNG would then be between 1 and 60.
Added to these 10 points for each category, I am adding 5 points for whichever game has a more substantial following, and by stronger, I am counting the number of videos or looking at the most recent videos and such.
The bottom line is that each contestant will have a possibility of starting at 50 and going up to 95 if they score 10 for each category and then outrate their opposing game for each category.
The Second Quarter
For the second quarter, Forza makes a strong push. They have representation on all 3 platforms, so they get 30 points added to their base of 50. Divinity also has plenty of posts and videos on the three platforms, so it gets 30 points as well.
As we move to comparisons, though, we start to see some differences. For YouTube, I think both games get a pretty close representation, so I am going to give them both the 5 points. In Twitch, though, Forza has a much higher number of streamers, and for Reddit, there are more users tied to the Forza page, probably because the console versions make a contribution.
With those breakdowns, we are looking at Forza with a 95 score and Divinity with an 85 score.
The Rolls
With a random roll between 1 and 95, Forza ends up with a 26 – the RNG gods really, really do not like Forza. Divinity has a roll between 1 and 85 and pulls out a 72. I’m thinking the randomness is clearly favoring Divinity Original Sin 2 in this contest.
The Score
The second-quarter results with Forza scoring 23 points to a Divinity score of 27, which leads to a halftime score of 43 for Forza Horizon 5 to 48 for Divinity Original Sin 2.
Wrapping it Up
Divinity seems to be pulling away from Forza in this contest, but there are still 2 more quarters left. Forza could score another 60 points and dominate the second half, but for now, Divinity seems to be the team of destiny for the first wild card match.
