Results and Another Round of the 2022 March Mammal Madness
The first full evening of Mammalian events in the 2022 March Mammal Madness tournament kicked off last night, and we saw some good contests along with some dramatic upsets. Of course, not all my picks made it through to the round of 32, but I think I am still sitting pretty good. My main picks – the Orca and the Sea Eagle – made quick work of their opponents, so I’m pretty happy. My upset picks ended up splitting with the Hagfish going down to the Sea Snake and the Indian Fruit Bat taking out the number 7 seed Arctic Tern.
The surprise of the night, though, might have been the battle of the Eclectus Parrot and the Macaroni Penguin. I felt confident in the abilities of the Penguin, particularly in his native habitat, but the Parrot managed move on due to fan interference – a leopard seal ate the Penguin.
Tonight the Why Not Both? Division kicks off round 1 action as we see heavy hitting contests between the Walrus and Lichen and the Swordfish and Leaf Slug. My pick for the division is the Swordfish, who I think will triumph over the Walrus in the Elite Trait.
I don’t really have a dark horse in this round and went pretty conservative for my picks. All top seeds this time around, so we’ll see if the seeding experts knew what they were doing. From the results of the Queens above, it doesn’t look like they get things right all the time.
Anyway, good luck on your brackets…I’m gonna get back to my March Gaming Madness tournament soon but took a little break because of life.
