Final additions to my Selection Pool
With 61 games in my selection pool for my March Gaming Madness tournament, I turned to my GoG library, XBox Game Pass, and Switch for the last few options. I ended up putting together another 11 games, so in the end, I’ll have a pool of 72 games to pick from to determine my tournament bracket.
The final 11 games start with a game that I am pretty sad that I have passed up for so long…Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game has been out for quite a while and even has a sequel coming out later this year, so I figure it is finally time for me to jump into. I can easily see this as my next go-to game to complete, but I’ll add it to my tournament, and maybe it will come through victorious.
Other games that have been out for a while that I never played include Fallout 76, Star Wars Galaxies, Ultima Online, and Runescape. These have all received mixed reviews, but one thing that makes me consider them is that they are still around after so long. If there are still people who want to play them, there must be something there that’s worth giving a chance to. There are also tons of resources related to these games since they’ve been around for so long.
A couple of newer games also slipped through my thoughts as I was looking for picks as well…Deathloop is a new game people have made positive comments on…Psychonauts was well received, and I’ve heard good things about the sequel, which makes me think it would be worth my time. Forza Horizon 5 sounds good though I haven’t played much in the way of car games before.
Mortal Online 2 is a PvP based game, but it sounds close enough to games I’ve enjoyed in the past that I think it deserves a spot in the selection pool. Maple Story sounds like another cool game that I just missed out on though not as many of my gaming friends dove into this game as some of the others in the pool.
Finally, Elite Dangerous sounds like a game that deserves a spot. I have wanted to jump into this game since before it came out but never gave it a chance. From my understanding, it was better before the latest expansion, but perhaps if I’m starting out, I could get used to things as they now are. In any case, I’ll add this to my selection pool.
72 games in the pool…64 to be selected (65 if I decide on a wild card match). I could add more, most likely, but then I can run other tournaments after this initial March Gaming Madness if this one works out.
In any case, I’ll begin laying out the matchups over the next few days, and we’ll start to see how the tournament plays out.
