Mass Reload on the Skywalker Specialization
I kept up my running today and took a visit to a street far, far away, and beyond that, I think I had a good day. I kept up with my Matrix rewatch and reading through Dune, but I took a jump back into Lord of the Rings Online to see where my bear is. It was also a day full of sports with a couple of NCAA football games and the baseball playoffs. Anyway, here’s the rundown…
The Rundown
- Running to Luke Skywalker
- Reloading the Matrix
- Dead and Captured
- Baseball Playoffs
- Picking a Specialization
- Midnight Mass episode 1
- NCAA Georgia #1 and #2 Iowa loses
The Goods
Running to Mark Hamill Drive
In 2017 a street in San Diego was renamed to honor an iconic celebrity – Mark Hamill. Today I virtually ran from Montgomery airfield to Mark Hamill drive and celebrated Luke Skywalker. While Luke never lived in San Diego, Hamill did, and it’s kinda cool to have a tie to Star Wars that I can virtually visit after running 3.3 miles.
Watching the Matrix Reloaded
I enjoyed watching The Matrix Reloaded after I figured out which one of the Reloaded or Resurrected movies was number 2, but in any case, the second entry in the Matrix trilogy had a great car chase! The Twins, the Merovingian, the Keymaker, the Architect, all were nice additions to the world of Neo and Trinity. And I loved the concept that Neo freed the Agent Smith program to become self-replicating and able to threaten to take over the entire Matrix. While not as good as the first movie, basically, since it was not as groundbreaking, The Matrix Reloaded was still a fun ride.
Reading Dune chapter 26
The Baron seems to clearly have won the battle for Arrakis. The Duke is dead. The invaders receive reports that Jessica and Paul are dead. Gedi Prime’s spice storage may have been assaulted, but the Sardaukar have captured the planetary ecologist Kynes and the Atreides’ Mentat, Thufir Hawat. Chapter 26 represents the high point for the Harkonnen as they seem to have succeeded in all their plans. As far as things look, it will not be long before the Baron’s dreams come true – a Harkonnen on the Emperor’s throne.
Bsseball in AL and NL Today
The Red Sox rolled out their best pitcher yesterday to try to make a statement in the ALCS, and it worked. Eovaldi took the ball, and while he did give up 3 runs, he pitched 5 pretty solid innings, which allowed the Boston offense to get the team a lead the bullpen could not blow. On the Nation League side of things, the Braves had a few days rest which showed as they were able to win in the 9th inning in a very fun game to watch. Austin Riley is starting to look like the hero of Atlanta’s postseason. But then, this IS the Dodgers who ARE the defending 2020 World Series Champs…I’m sure they’ll get their act together.
Back to LOTRO
After reaching a milestone in Secret World Legends, I decided to head back to LOTRO to see where things were. And actually, I’m in an interesting position…I just set up my binding to Combe after finishing off the Archet quests and reaching level 6. Last I recall, I was feeling pretty good with my Beorning and the Deadly difficulty level, but I had not picked out a specialty.
Three trees to choose from – DPS, Tank, and Healing. Red, Blue, and Yellow. I’ve read a few things that indicate that DPS is the way to go to burn through the bad guys quickly. Other websites suggest that Blue is the way to go because you can pretty much survive forever as a tank. The one spec that I did not see a lot of recommendations for was Yellow, so of course, that’s the one I chose.
I figure that since I’m running on Deadly difficulty, I might need the added benefit of improved healing. I also don’t expect that I’m going to try to pull lots of groups to fight – one or two bad guys at a time are perfectly fine by me – I really am not in any rush to get through things. Anyway, we’ll see how it goes.
Another New Show
I started watching Midnight Mass on Netflix, and considering it is the Halloween time of year, I think this show fits in well. The whole thing has an eerie vibe to it as 3 people come to an isolated island town. Riley, who is returning home after a prison sentence for killing someone in a DUI…Erin, who went out to see the big world and is coming back pregnant…and Father Paul Hill, who is a first-time island resident who is coming to fill in for the local pastor who fell ill while on a pilgrimage. The whole thing seems kinda bleak and depressing, and when hundreds of stray cats show up on the beach, things only get more creepy. Usually, I’m not too fond of horror shows, but I’ll keep up with this one for now.
Another Undefeated Team Loses
I had no sooner spoken to my neighbor about watching Iowa beat up on Penn State, and he mentioned that Purdue would be much easier this week. I suggested Purdue could be surprising at times, and it appears yesterday was one of those times. After jumping into the #2 position in the NCAA polls and remaining one of the few undefeated teams after beating Penn State, Iowa proceeded to lose in surprising fashion to Purdue. All the undefeated teams keep losing in the top 25…we may have a champion that did not go undefeated this year.
It’s a Wrap
Wins and losses, yellow trait lines, and some creepy dead cats made today a good day. I think I’m keeping up a pretty good diversity of activities each day, and not only am I reading and playing games, but I’m also getting outside and running. I’m thinking things are going pretty well, and I hope you all had an interesting and enjoyable day as well.
