Planning to Survive

Today is another day where I don’t have much time or anything to focus on gaming, but I wanted to continue commenting on my Dune read.

Council of War

With the attack on Paul and the arrival of the entirety of the Atreides staff on Arrakis, the Duke calls a War Council.

Most of the major players appear, with Thufir starting everything off by offering to resign because he failed to detect the trap that almost results in a dead Paul.

It was a short-lived attempt, and the Duke refused before the meeting started properly, and we learn that the Harkonnen did everything they could to make things difficult for the Atreides. Broken down equipment, spice carriers without shields, a demoralized workforce are all impediments for the Duke to get Arrakis back to full production. But it seems the council is prepared to burn the midnight oil to get things working for their Duke.

And then we meet Stilgar, a Fremen leader.

This 12th chapter is so jam-packed with good information that I have to rate it a Must Read, but I have to break it into two parts.
