Rolling with Yueh and a new Pet
So we’re now on Arrakis in Dune and I’m starting to get a sense of anticipation…I’m sure something is going to happen soon and the fact that we see another chapter with Yueh as a main participant makes me think we’re are definitely close. He’s gonna betray the Duke soon and things are really gonna get rolling.
Just like they’re starting to get rolling in Final Fantasy. I beat up on some more creatures and made it to level 4 so I’m feeling pretty good about my progress.
Suk School Sucks
I have to say that I’m not all that impressed by a school of training that is supposed to be impervious to manipulation but for which we have a single example that turns traitor. Personally I think the Suk school that Dr. Yueh hails from is a load of crap. If this is the type of training that a bunch of degenerates like the Harkonnen can break down I really don’t see how someone trained by this school would ever be allowed to treat the Emperor.
In any case, in chapter 8 we see an interesting exchange between Dr. Yueh and Jessica…Suk trained husband to a Bene Gesserit facing off against a serving girl to the Reverend Mother and simple consort to Duke Leto.
It’s a good verbal sparing match and I’m not sure either side wins or learns much but it was an enjoyable and illuminating dialog.
I do find it intersting that Yueh looks down upon Jessica because she does not have the full truthsayer ability, that his wife did, while he and his vaunted Suk school training are not above the Harkonnen taking his wife hostage.
It was a good chapter and for all the back-and-forth fencing, I think this is another Must Read.
I Like Pet Classes
After finally getting into some combat in the last game session I was ready to go all out this time around. I was running up and down Lower and Middle La Noscea today and getting a feel for the world outside the city.
After taking down a few more Wharf Rats, some things called Aureliae that look like floating jelly fish, and sheep, I leveled up to 4 and received my first big ability update. I got my Summon spell.
Now I get to run around with a pet to help me out.
And the Emerald Carbuncle is pretty cute!
Even though he’s not a Pokemon and he’s certainly not yellow, I can’t help but think of him as my personal Pikachu. In any case, he helps out and at times causes lots of trouble by generating aggro to extra critters I don’t necissarily want to fight.
I’m gonna have to learn how to control him better, but he’s been a fun addition so far and my my short game session enjoyable.
