Freedom to Replay

It’s been a while since I just rambled here, so I’m a bit rusty, but I wanted to throw down a bit of a ramble on Independence Day to see if I could get things rolling again. And anyway, I felt like wishing everyone a happy 4th of July, considering it’s the first big ‘post-Covid’ holiday. Hopefully, there will be plenty more holidays where we don’t have to watch politicians lecturing about how better off we are when they take our freedoms away. Oh well, before I ramble too much…

Things Were Done

Today saw an exciting round of gaming for me as I spent most of my time on something that, in the long run, is gonna be pretty transient – I played XCom 2. More specifically, I played my turn in the XCom 2 Blaugust Succession Game, and I’ll be happy to say I’m gonna play it again.

No, it’s not that I’m gonna play the game again, which I probably will, but to the point, I am going to be replaying the same mission I played today.

I got decimated in a bad way during the mission, and I am definitely gonna call for a Mulligan.

Here’s the guy who did it to me – the Codex.

This guy showed up after I used a Skulljack for the first time in what I assumed would be a straightforward mission. I had an ADVENT officer down to 3 HP and figured I could easily end the mission by jumping on him with the Skulljack.

Nope.

I died when the Codex showed up. Then my next soldier died. And then my next soldier died. Then one of my sharpshooters died. One guy left, and she bugged out ASAP.

No one told me there would be a nearly unbeatable teleporting machine of destruction in the mission I blindly signed up for.

Well, with 4 outta 5 of my guys dead, I am not gonna let that stand as my contribution to the succession game. Instead, I’m gonna do some research and jump back to the start of the mission and make sure I have a fighting chance.

Wish me luck!

Happy Fourth of July!

I just wanted to wish everyone in America a happy 4th of July! And for those everywhere, take the time to celebrate the freedoms you have.
