Return to Optimism

Today was a pretty good day. My team won, and the only walk Shohei Ohtani was involved in was his taking first base in the third inning. Other than that, he had ZERO free passes and threw 10 strikeouts. Perhaps my team can turn things around this season. Beyond the game, I pulled the trigger on something I’ve been meaning to do for a bit now…I jumped into The Burning Crusade and World of Warcraft Classic, and I’m optimistic that a return to that expansion might reignite my enjoyment of that game.

Optimistic for My Team

The Angels almost did it again. They nearly threw away a 10 strikeout performance from Shohei Ohtani. Not only was he striking out opponents, but he did not walk a soul for the first time in his MLB career. It was a pretty impressive outing, and the Angels gave him just enough offense to pick up his 2nd win of the season.

Leadoff hitter J.P. Crawford was Ohtani’s nemesis this game as he started off the game with a home run and later knocked in the 2nd of Seattle’s 2 runs, but he could not spark anything else for the Mariners. Instead, Shohei shook off the troubles and powered through 6 innings allowing only 4 hits.

On the offensive side of things, Ohtani only managed to get on base once with a walk, but Upton and Rojas both went yard to score the 3 runs necessary to push the Angels over the top.

It was a fun, if tense game that I’m glad to see the Angels win. Somehow, everything seemed to fall into place for the team as even the bullpen pitched well, and as last night, the Angels made it through 9 innings without an error.

With a 1–1 record during this 10 game critical stretch, I’m perhaps a bit more optimistic for my team, but only time will tell.

Relive the TBC Adventure

I finally broke down and dove in…I downloaded and fired up WoW Classic just in time to see that they have moved on. Yup, just as I start to have a little interest in playing WoW again, they’ve moved from Classic to The Burning Crusade, and I’ve got to make a choice if I want my level 13 druid to transfer to TBC or stay in Classic.

I think I’m gonna pass on the choice and instead kick off a new character in TBC. A Druid, of course, but at least I’ll get another fresh start.

Anyway, as is the case with most MMOs leveling up won’t be too difficult. However, it’s a lot more grindy and involved for a game that was designed years ago when developers actually cared about the leveling process rather than just the end game.

In any case, I built out my new Tauren Druid and named her Dredshi, and gave myself a bit of time to putter around in the starting area. Actually, I was kinda surprised that even after 30 minutes, I was still in Red Cloud Mesa and had only attained level 3. I’ll have to make a comparison some time, but I’m pretty sure that in the current retail expansion of WoW, I could have reached level 6 or maybe even 10 in 30 minutes, but things are SO SLOW in TBC. Oh well, I wanted to relive the adventure.

It’s a Wrap

Hopefully, today is a harbinger of good fortune for both my team and my gaming enjoyment. Sure, grinding through the levels of TBC will be rough, but I’ve done it before, so why not again. On the other side of things, I’m hoping my team goes someplace it hasn’t been since about the time TBC came out for the first time. It’s been so long since the Angels have had a good year maybe they needed a crusade. In any case, they had a good game last night, and I’m hoping they keep things going in the right direction.
