A Slow Day
I’m gonna take things a bit slow today considering the Angles had the day off yesterday. I figure I could use a lighter day every now and then and when my team takes a break, why should I push myself to come up with other topics. Actually, I have a few that have been rattling around in my head but none of them are fleshed out yet. Soon though.
Duck Soup
Of course, I kept up my reading even if the Angels did not play and I got through another couple of chapters of The Rook. The first dealt with the exciting prophecies of a psychic duck while the other followed Myfanwy out to Reading where the Graftrer leader unleashed a monstrosity.
A Well Deserved Break
The Angels got a nice day off after a 4–2 home stand to start the season. Winning 4 against a couple of the expected top teams in the American League was a nice way to begin the season, particularly with how the team usually starts each year. The Angels are typically slow starters and always dig a deep hole that need to climb out of in order to be competitive. Even during years when Los Angeles has ended the season well, they usually start pretty poorly. With a good start to this season I can only hope they will carry that throughout the entire 2021 campaign.
Oakland’s First Win
With the Angels getting the day off there were still plenty of games in the West. San Francisco managed to grab a game from the Padres 3 to 2 as Kevin Gausman threw 7 innings of one run ball. Texas evened up their season at 3 wins and 3 losses as they took a close 2 to 1 contest against Toronto. Arizona got shut out by the Rockies and they were even held to 5 hits in Colorado. And Oakland finally picked up their first win of the season, needing 10 innings to pull out a 4 to 3 victory over the Dodgers. So even without my Angels, there were some good games Wednesday.
It’s a Wrap
With Oakland’s first victory, every team in the West has a win and I certainly expect the A’s to play better than they have shown.
