Dancing to the Shohei Show

Ok, so I’m gonna dial it back a bit today since I just want to put the whole baseball and politics things out of my head. Instead, I’m gonna focus on nice things. Nice things like dancing with friends. Nice things like a pitcher hitting a home run. Nice things like my Angels starting the season 3–1.

I think I’ll keep things happy for a change.

Dancing with the Grafters

After some craziness the past few chapters, we take a bit of a break with Myfanwy this time around. Since we just found out that she has a sister and we just had to deal with a traitor, she figured it was time for some R&R. So she ditches her bodyguards and goes out dancing.

Of course, she didn’t expect to run into one of the leaders or the Grafters while she was drunk, but then again, so much in her short life has been unexpected. Too bad her previous self didn’t listen to the 3000-year-old Greek Oracle about going out more often…perhaps she would have known better what to expect.

The Shohei Ohtani Show

Sunday, the Angels finished off their series with Chicago and once again put together a come-from-behind victory. Scoring 3 runs in the 9th inning on an HR by Jared Walsh was only the icing on the cake after an historic outing by Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani became the first American League starting pitcher since 1972 hit a home run against another AL team. He also threw over 100 MPH and batted second in the lineup, which were also remarkable feats. While he did not get the win, he did strike out 7 while only giving up a single earned run.

With the HR by Walsh, the Angels moved to 3–1 on the season and are feeling pretty good heading into a short series against the Astros. By many accounts, Chicago is going to be a pretty strong contender in the AL Central, so, in my view, winning this opening series is a pretty big accomplishment for the team

Rest of the West Day 4

Texas finally made it into the win column as they led the whole way with a 7–3 victory over KC. Nate Lowe and Kiner Falefa’s home runs provided the offense, and Jordan Lyles held the Royals to 2 runs over 5 and 2/3 innings in the win. In Colorado, somehow, there were only 8 hits by both teams, but 6 runs were scored, and I’m not sure how that really works, but the Dodgers took another from the Rockies, 4–2. Houston is on a roll with another victory against the A’s as Tucker, Castro, and McCormick all went over the fence on their way to a 9–2 spanking of Oakland. Could this be the year the A’s don’t get a miracle? They always seem to magically put a winning team together with duct tape and chewing gum but maybe not this time.

It’s a Wrap

Four games into the season and I am really enjoying things. My Angels are up there with the best in the league and while it’s only 4 games into a 162 game season I feel pretty optimistic about the 2021 season for my favorite team.
