2021 MMM Wildcard Battle

Yesterday kicked off the 2021 March Mammal Madness tournament with the Wildcard match between the Hopi Chipmunk and the Southern Red-Backed Vole. The winner of this bout heads into an epic battle with the number one seed of the Red, In Fur bracket…the Red Kangaroo.

Both competitors are small rodents this time around but they are both eager to survive to take on the Australian beast and with battle taking place in the ecosystem of the North Inlet trail on Rocky Mountain National Park, the Vole has a slight advantage.

And this advantage is profound since the Vole is in the middle of breeding season and is very defensive of it’s territory. When the Chipmunk shows up, of course the Vole is gonna get aggressive, and the interloper is gonna have a hard time of it.

A few paws to the head and the loser runs off into hiding…
