Six Degrees of Nomadic Gamers, eh! – A Fellow Wurmian

This is an installment of my Six Degrees series (which I haven’t touched in quite a while) in which I take a look at the wonderful blogs that surround Beyond Tannhauser Gate. The blogosphere is large but there are so many friends to be found within Six Degrees.

I’ve actually visited Stargrace over at Nomadic Gamers, eh! A few times over the years, most recently in 2018 when she was working Trade Skill Master to farm for WoW tokens. Flash forward to 2021 and she seems to continue to have a handle on things.

From her Balancing Act post I learned of her bullet journal and how she uses it for gaming and hobbies in her life and I started thinking about my systems. The bullet journal is one of a number of subsystems I tend to use along with Getting Things Done, Pomodoro, and a few others. Somehow, like games, I find I bounce around between systems and eventually get some kind of hybrid (like my Druid) that works.

The other cool thing I learned is that Stargrace is a fellow Wurmian! There aren’t many of us out there since the game is kinda grindy so it’s always nice to say “Hello, how are you!” whenever you meet one.

Since my game time has been on the low side recently, I’ve kinda let my Wurm deed fall into disrepair lately. Not too bad since I have plenty of upkeep in the settlement bank, but my farmland has turned into weeds and part of my mine has collapsed. Fortunately no one was trapped inside when it happened.

Perhaps I should turn some of my ‘productivity’ systems towards Wurm, as Stargrace has. If I use the systems to not only manage real life, but also my games and activities in the games, I could actually make progress towards my gaming goals.

I do have some pretty big plans for my Wurm deed after all and when I neglect even my meager farm it doesn’t make me feel like I can attain my goals.

Thank you Stargrace for helping me realize that the systems that help in balancing everyday life can also be targeted to my virtual life to focus me on balancing the things I do in game.
