Tools of the Trade
Today I take a look at grinding in Wurm Online and a tool that can be very useful in that long journey. I also take a look at demonstrations of why the two rooks in The Rook are seated in those positions of authority.
Grinding in Wurm Online
I wondering why it took me so long to find this neat tool for Wurm Online but it is certainly something I’m going to get some good use out of.
Grinder is a simulation tool that gives an estimation for skill gain when performing actions in Wurm. The idea is that you want to use the right quality ingredients with the right quality tools when you are at certain skill levels if you want to level up your abilities quickly.
For example, if I wanted to raise my Farming skill I would need to input the following:
- My current Farming Skill
- My current Nature Skill
- The crop difficulty (based on the type of crop I am tending/harvesting)
- The quality of the Rake I am using
- My current skill with the Rake
With these parameters entered, Grinder will perform an estimation of skill gain based on a standard number of iterations – the default is 50k trials.
These estimates can then be used to determine the best crop and rake quality to use to gain the most skill points. And it is great!
I already have used it to realize that I need to be farming cotton (difficulty 7) and wemp or rye (crop difficulty 10) if I want to gain skill at a greater than 51% chance.
In a game like Wurm, where grinding can take a long time to reach the skills necessary to do some cool things, this tool is great!
I fully recommend this tool when you get into the game of Wurm Online as it will save tons of grinding time.
Ghost Busters?
Chapters four and five of The Rook are an interesting assortment of fun since we get to meet Myfanwy’s counterpart, Gestalt, and then get to see her in ‘action’ as a Rook.
Gestalt is another supernatural being but instead of having powers to knock people out like Myfanwy does, he instead inhabits four different bodies. And he/she/it can control all four bodies at the same time. This makes him a force to be reckoned with, and as we learn from his takedown of a cult leader, is a pretty kick-ass fighter.
Myfanwy is no slouch either, as we see her perform her administrative-fu to orchestrate a takedown and coverup of an attack in Liverpool by ectoplasmic animals.
These two chapters clearly show how the two rooks attained their positions of authority in the Checquy.
It’s a Wrap
So there you have it…if you want to gain skill in Wurm Online it would be very beneficial to find out the most efficient way to advance and Grinder is a great tool for that task. And, if you want to see why some of the characters in The Rook reached their positions of authority, chapters 4 and 5 are good showcases of what they are capable of.
