A Farscape Destiny

Today I watched the Farscape panel from ComicCon@Home and it brought back memories of some of the cool concepts that show had. I also remember that for some reason I didn’t keep watching consistently for some reason. I also realized that when I play Destiny I kinda get some of the feeling I got when watching that show. The wars and storyline have some similarities and certainly the variety of aliens from both are part of what I enjoy. One thing I don’t enjoy though, is some of the fruits rating missions in Destiny. The campaigns are pretty good and I’ve enjoyed pushing through the first couple but today I ran into a mission that I beat my head against for way too long. I think I’m gonna have to update how I approach that game so I have more fun with it.

Getting into the Farscape Panel from ComicCon@Home

I only watched a bit of Farscape when it was on but I loved the idea. I don’t really recall why I didn’t watch it since it was right up my alley in terms of Science Fiction but I only watched about a couple dozen episodes across all the seasons. I always told myself that I’d give it a shot though and try to watch it someday.

Well, with the show streaming on Amazon Prime, perhaps now is the time to go back and give the show a watch.

In any case I took a look at the Farscape panel during ComicCon@Home and it piqued my interest in the show again.

The whole concept of flying through space in a living ship was cool. The wars they were involved in were interesting, and the aliens were great. Of course I don’t recall most of what the show was about but what I do remember is done with a smile. I guess it’s kinda like Supernatural in that I enjoyed the show but for some reason did not stick with it over the years.

I’m gonna put this one on my list of shows to stream and see if I can get to it after I finish off my Star Trek rewatch and Supernatural watch.

Destiny can be Frustrating

I’ve been a pretty casual Destiny 2 player over the years. It was actually one of the first games since I’ve been blogging that I actually made it to the endgame though. Yup, I actually finished off the main story quest and played a bit of end game content back before the reset and DLC. Since then, it’s pretty much been on the shelf except where I’ve played a bit here or there.

This past month though, I decided to get into it again and run through things to catch up, particularly since I had not played much on the PC. So I started up a new Warlock. She’s been pretty fun and I’ve enjoyed all the familiar scenes from the Red War campaign. I even pushed through the Curse of Osiris and finished that off last week.

But I still don’t completely understand the current setup with regards to the meta and weekly tasks. In particular I am a bit frustrated with a mission I was assigned this week called Interference.

The quest was listed as recommending an 800 power and I was pushing 900 so I figured I should be good to go but then it also said this would be good for a fire team of 1–3 players. I went solo and maybe that was my problem.

This quest took me FOREVER to accomplish.

I’m not sure if it was the moving platforms that I kept falling off or the fact that my preferred weapon is the scout rifle or what, but I must have died 100 times trying to get through this stupid mission. And it seems this thin is a weekly repeatable quest so I can suffer through it again next week.

I suppose it’s time I start learning about some of the modifications I can put on weapons and armor. I’ve been pretty much rolling with whatever they gave me over the course of my campaigns and the few Season of Arrivals quests I’ve done. I also might need to look into swapping weapons to deal with specific enemies – I mean, I already switch to my sniper rifle periodically.

Finally, I think I’m gonna try to find myself a guild or something. Or at least do some kind of LFG to find a fire team to run some of the missions with. I KNOW that if I had a partner or two this would have been much easier…though I don’t think you can revive someone who keeps falling off the platforms.

Anyway, I struggled but got through the mission. I don’t even recall what goodies I got for finishing but I’m sure nothing was worth the time and frustration I went through to get them.

Next time it’s gonna be better.

It’s a Wrap

I’m hoping to spend more time with both properties I dabbled with today. Farscape was a fun show to watch way back when but I didn’t get enough of it. Now I’ve got the opportunity to watch more on Amazon Prime. As for Destiny, I’m hoping to learn how to better deal with missions like Interference so I don’t get frustrated.
