Turning Things Around

Today is basically a bit about turning things around. In Detective Comics the Riddler is claiming that he’s reformed and turned away from crime and in my Second Chance League, I’m hoping my Angel team turns away from their first lost of the season.

Riddler Reformed?

Detective Comics #822

By Paul Dinni

The Riddler has seen the light and has reformed. He is now working as a detective trying to solve the murder of a socialite friend of Bruce, the only issue is…his first step is to accuse Wayne of committing the crime.

Of course our favorite billionaire did not do the deed but it’ll be interesting to see how the Caped Crusader solves the case with Edward Nigma ‘helping out’.

Actually, the man in the green jacket is well informed about goings on in the underworld and he is able to show Batman a thing or two about secret tunnels and illicit nightclubs. I particularly like the panels where Nigma is in the batmobile, conscious for the first time.

This looks like it could be a decent set up for a larger story and I enjoyed it.

Second Chance League Game 7 – LAA vs. TEX

In game 7 of the Second Chance League I’m hoping the Angels get back to their winning ways. Sure, they only lost a single game this season but I have more fun when I lead them to victory.

In game 7 of the SCL, they face off against the Texas Rangers again and this time they are sending Andrew Heaney to the mound. Texas is countering with

Things go smoothly for both Pitchers in the first but things get rolling in the second as Albert Pujols leads off with a single and advances to 2nd on a walk to Justin Upton. David Fletcher singles to load the bases and Andrelton Simmons smacks a double to left center to score Pujols and Upton. Fletcher scores on a fly out by Brian Goodwin and the Angels take a lead they don’t intend on giving up.

A couple innings late, Texas gets on the board with a solo home run by Willie Calhoun but Heaney shuts down the rest of the lineup until the 5th.

Todd Frazier leads off with a home run which shakes up Heaney who then walks the next batter. He then give up a single to Alvis Andrus and the Rangers have the go ahead run come to the plate. A fly ball and a strike out later and things are looking much better. Too bad they didn’t stay that way as Willie Calhoun comes up and picks up a single and an RBI and the game is tied up at 3.

Things didn’t stay that way long as Pujols lead off the 6th with a single followed by and Upton single. With runners on first and second, David Fletcher drives a lone single to right and Pujols scores, making it 4 to 3. Simmons was up next and he belts a long fly ball to right…so deep that it allows Upton to score to make the game 5 to 3.

Heaney was backed up by Jacob Barnes, Ty Buttrey, and Hansel Robles to finish off the game. They shut the rangers down and the final score was 5 to 3, Angels.

With the win, the Angels finish their season opening road trip with a 6 and 1 record and stand alone in first place in the AL West. Not too bad.

It’s a Wrap

Well, the Angels fulfilled their goal of turning away from their previously loss but I think the jury is still out on wether the Riddler is gonna be a detective or someone the law is still hunting down.
