No Rant, But Run

I am not gonna rant this week after my fitness post. Instead I’m gonna take another step in my reading of Harry Potter.

Running The Last Week Of May

This week I feel pretty good about my running again. I was able to supersede my previous week’s mileage and also keep my streak going. I’m up to 56 days running in a row and I’m hoping to continue as long as I can. I haven’t been running fast…according to my Garmin, my quickest pace was 11:50 minutes per mile and that was during my Wednesday 3.45 mile jaunt.

The runs have been fun too. In addition to getting my fitness level up and my weight down, I’ve been learning about my neighborhood. I never knew there were so many hills and little dead end streets around here until I started being forced to run here. It’s been fun though.

And while I run I often listen to audiobooks.

A Chat with a Boa

While it may not be 10 years since I last rambled about Harry Potter, it has been a bit since I looked at chapter 1. Today, in chapter 2, it is nearly 10 years after little Harry was placed with his Aunt and Uncle after the horrible death of his parents. Of course the Dursley’s refused to tell him anything truthful about his parents and they made his 10 years miserable.

In chapter two though, he gets a bit of a respite as the family is forced to take Harry along with them to the Zoo for Dudley’s birthday. And it’s in this Zoo that Harry befriends a snake that scares the crap outta Dudley. It’s here that we see Harry perform his first act of magic, though he doesn’t know it. Talking with a snake is not a common thing for normal (Muggle) people to do and it’s certainly not something a Dursley would do. But it goes further than a chat…Harry magically lets the snake go free. This chapter gives definitive signs that Harry is as magical as his parents and ‘other’ family think he is.

It’s a Wrap

So with a run and a read today, I’m not in a ranting mood. Sure, there’s plenty to be upset about, worried about, and pissed off about, but I’m in a much better place this week than I was last week. Sure the virus is still out there, and this week we add in riots, arson, and looting, but I’m just not gonna let all that drag my spirits down.

I certainly hope there’s a solution to the virus soon and it’d be nice if people just learned to get along better and stop treating each other poorly. Hrmm…when I see the level of trolling and hate that is spewed in League of Legends though, I often worry that people are becoming less civilized, but like I said…no rant today.
