Running All Over
Wednesday is once again a running day. Actually, I’ve been running every day of the week for the past few weeks, and I’ve felt pretty good about it. Beyond my own running, Barry Allen is running and he’s got some speedy friends in Flash #2.
Increasing My Mileage
I think I’ve been doing pretty good with my running these past few weeks, and as I mentioned last week, I made it up to 20 miles a week last week. Let’s see where I’m at for this current week…
Thursday 4/30 – 2.5 miles
Friday 5/1 – 2.5 miles
Saturday 5/2 – 3.1 miles
Sunday 5/3 – 5.1 miles
Monday 5/4 – 1.6 mike
Tuesday 5/5 – 2.6 miles
Wednesday 5/6 – 1.6 miles
So I got in 19 miles, and I think I know why I did NOT increase this week while I extended my long run on Sunday.
For whatever reason, my ankle was bothering me on Wednesday morning, so I ended up waiting until the evening to get in my run. That wasn’t the best idea since it was 77 degrees when I went out for my run, and my ankle wasn’t feeling any better. With that in mind, I took it easy and only ran for 20 minutes. My schedule had called for a 3 mile run on Wednesday, but I postponed that – we’ll see if I can get that in tomorrow.
So with the reduced running today, I only managed 19 miles this week. I’m hoping my ankle feels better tomorrow and I can get in my 3-mile mid-week run, but if it hurts, I’d rather not push it. I figure it’s better to be able to run a little than to push things and injure myself so that I can’t get out and exercise.
Thunderstruck
While I wasn’t able to get my mileage increase in this week, it sure looks like Barry was able to get in his running and this time with friends.
In the second chapter of the Lightning Strikes Twice storyline, Barry is given the opportunity to train a new speedster. August Heart, a fellow Central City Police Officer, was struck by lightning in the last issue and was granted the Speed Force, just as Barry has. Could a new partner be the answer to Barry’s prayers, or does this have something to do with the nefarious Dr. Carver and the Black Hole organization? In another part of the city, Iris is investigating these questions when she’s kidnapped. With two speedsters on the job, you know she won’t be held for long.
It’s a Wrap
I hope you’ve managed to get some exercise into your life these days. With the pandemic shutting down so many outdoor activities, I can only imagine a lot of people will come out of this thing with a few extra pounds. Hopefully, that’s not the case for you, and for me, I’m working to prevent that from happening.
Actually, I mentioned to Mrs. Redshirt that I need to keep a better eye on what I’m eating these days since I’m not exercising as much as usual. Actually, I probably am exercising more than I used to, but I’m not getting in my basic 10,000 daily steps. In any case, I realize that I kinda binge eat on the weekend, and I really need to cut back on that if I want to make it out of this pandemic without gaining weight. Running can certainly help, but when I’m more sedentary during the day, binge eating can not be too good for me.
So bottom line…cut back on the binge eating, be careful about not getting injured, and keep running…oh yeah…and keep reading The Flash.
Hope you have a great week.
