Now That’s The Way To Do It!

This is my first reading of the Chris Claremont era to the X-Men, and I am delighted to say that I am enjoying every issue. Perhaps it’s because the stories I’ve encountered so far are closely tied to the X-Men animated show I grew up with, or maybe it’s just because the stories and art are so good. I’m not sure but, I can see why people always point to these issues when looking for good mutant tales.

Mutant on Mutant Action

Well, I thought last issue was incredible, but this one tops even that!

Uncanny X-Men #100 was a great read. And in just these few issues, I can see how Chris Claremont deserves all the praise he’s received for his run on the X-Men. As for the pictures, Dave Cockrum’s art is beautiful, and I love the full-page panels where it seems he masterfully crammed all kinds of detail into such a small space. I’m truly impressed.

In this issue, we see the continuation of the Steven Lang story where he’s brought the X-Men into Earth’s orbit and somehow has enlisted the previous X-Men to fight them. OK, so we already saw Havok and Polaris fight the current team, but this time it looks like it’s a full-on battle royale.

Cyclops, Jean Grey, Havok, Polaris, Iceman, Wolverine, Banshee, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Angel, and Beast are all playing along to the tune that Steve Lang has orchestrated and it sure seems like a fight to the death.

While the battle is awesome, it’s the solar flare that’s heading for the team that’ll have the most lasting impact, and I can’t wait for more!

This is how you make a comic that forces you to run to the local comic shop to buy the next month’s installment as soon as it’s out!

It’s a Wrap

With such an exciting issue, the one problem I have is that I can’t figure out f I should be calling this title X-Men or Uncanny X-Men. I’ve seen it referenced both ways online, so I’m pretty confused. What I’m not confused about, though, is how much I’m enjoying these issues.
