Blapril is Blaugust in April

With all the craziness going on in the world today, a few of the people from the Blaugust Discord decided it would be a good idea to put together an event to encourage community in the Blogosphere. We couldn’t really call it Blaugust, as we usually do, since this was gonna happen during the China Flu, which was happening in February and March, and soon to be extending into April. With an event happening in the Spring and during a worldwide pandemic it seems appropriate that we call this event Blapril. It even sounds like a new fancy medication – hopefully we’re not stepping on any copyrights or trademarks or anything.

The plan for Blapril is to encourage our internet family to observe social distancing while sharing togetherness with eachother. While there may be gaming time shared with the group, this will, as usual in the video gaming world, occur at a distance. More to the point, the sharing will extend beyond gaming to any type of blogging with the goal to share content, thoughts, ideas, and experiences among the community. I love the idea!

From there you can sign up for the event and let the community know if your a new blogger, a veteran who just happened to stumble upon the event, or a mentor who is volunteering to assisng newbies in joining in on the fun.

It was almost 8 years ago that I started this blog during the Newbie Blogger Initiative and this Blapril event is the descendant of that glorious experience.

I highly encourage anyone who is interested in blogging to give it a shot. It can be a lot of fun, it’s definitely a learning experience, and you get to meet some really cool people in the Blogosphere. And during this time of social distancing, working from home, temporary layoffs (at least I certainly hope so), and viral fears, blogging can be a postive outlet for creativity, stress, and simple communication.

It’s a Wrap

Blapril is starting tomorrow – Sunday, March 29 – which of course is not April but who would want to start an event on a Tuesday? Anyway, the full event goes through May 9th with different activities planned for each week and anyone is welcome to join in at any time.

Hopefully we’ll see a bunch of new faces in the Blogosphere and a bunch of old friends as well.
