Superman, Meet Clark Kent, Part 2

The appearance of Clark Kent has caused all kinds of confusion in Metropolis, not the least confused is the new Superman. Sure, he knows the previous Man of Steel in this world has died, but how can Kent still be alive? He hopes to get to the bottom of the mystery in this issue of Action Comics.

As we saw in the previous issue, Clark was thrown off the Geneticron building, seemingly to his death, but Superman saved him. This allowed the two to get to know each other better as Superman took Clark to his fortress of solitude.

Between Clark’s shivering and insistence that he is human, Superman figures he can use a psychic artifact to drill down to the truth. The Man of Steel provides Clark with the Globe of Revelation to prove the veracity of his story…and everything is revealed to be true. The Globe verifies that Clark is human, and the Kents indeed adopted him in this reality, and somehow, the previous Superman hid him to try to save him.

I’m really confused by everything here since we all know the previous Superman was Clark Kent…so there were 2 Clarks before that Superman died, and now there are 2 Clarks again…hmm…I’m not sure what this all means but it certainly is a mystery.

So with the story confirmed, the new Superman gives Clark an emergency signal watch, and they head back to Metropolis and Geneticron. But it’s not there! Someone or something made the building disappear, and the whole thing is gone. And we also learn that this corporation had two beings before they unleashed Doomsday on the city. Who was this other creature, and is this the thing that took the building away?

Verdict

This was a step up from the previous issue, and I like the mysteries that are being developed. What’s going on with the multiple Clark Kents, and who is the guy in the red cap who made the Geneticron building disappear? So far, this series is keeping me engaged, and I’m happy to be looking forward to the next issue.

With that in mind, I rate this issue a Read.
