DC Universe New Weekly Releases February 11, 2020

DC Comics started to release new comics to their DC Universe platform about a year after they enter circulation as floppies. With that in mind, I decided to list off those released each week as I do for Marvel Unlimited. The DC releases come out on Monday just like the Marvel comics but since they are pushed to their site in the evening I figured I’d publish their list on Tuesday…and…this week I got sidetracked with work and lots of other stuff so I’m posting this on Thursday.

Regardless, here’s what I think will be available for this week that was released February 6th, 2019:

Top Comics This Week

12 new comics released today compared to 16 last week.  Looking at Comic Book Roundup which aggregates a bunch of review sites, here are the top issues from this batch of comics.

  • Green Lantern #4
by Grant Morrison and Liam Sharp.
    Published by DC Comics, 2019.
In a bar on Rann, two shrouded strangers recount two blood-chilling narratives-one in which a Blackstar heavyweight demands access to a secret vault on planet Weirwimm, threatening its gruesome annihilation with Sun-Eaters; and the other about maverick Hal Jordan and his small cadre of GLs struggling to destroy those same Sun-Eaters. And the cliffhanger-as any TGL fan will tell you about this book-may stun you enough to buy two copies
  • Justice League #17
by Scott Snyder and Jim Cheung.
    Published by DC Comics, 2019.
After the disastrous events of the Justice League Annual, Martian Manhunter decides to take matters into his own hands and negotiate a peace with Legion of Doom leader Lex Luthor. Traveling to a distant moon, the two enemies face their intertwined pasts in a showdown for the fate of the Multiverse. However, before either of them can lay claim to the power of the Source Wall once and for all, an unexpected threat forces them to unite…or risk death at the ends of the cosmos.
  • Man and Superman #1
by Marv Wolfman and Claudio Castellini.
    Published by DC Comics, 2019.
“This is the best Superman story I’ve ever written.” So says living legend Marv Wolfman, and when you’ve written hundreds of Superman stories as he has, it means a great deal. This gem of a tale – written and drawn from 2006-2009 for the SUPERMAN CONFIDENTIAL series – explodes from the DC archives as a triumphant tale of Clark Kent’s fateful first days in Metropolis, which were far from easy. His early failures almost ensured there would never be a hero called Superman. Powerful writing and stunning art combine to conjure an inspiring story that needed to be published, one you will never forget, from a pair of master storytellers.

Number Ones

  • Female Furies #1
by Cecil Castellucci and Adriana Melo.
    Published by DC Comics, 2019.
All their lives the Female Furies have been raised to be the meanest, most cunning and most ruthless fighting force on all of Apokolips. So why are Granny Goodness’ girls left behind every time the men go to war? With the might of New Genesis hanging over the planet, and the Forever People making mincemeat out of Darkseid’s army, Granny thinks it’s about time that changed.  And so, Big Barda, Aurelie, Mad Harriet, Lashina, Bernadeth and Stompa set out to beat the boys at their own game. Little do they know the game is rigged-and one accidental murder could spell disaster for them all!  FEMALE FURIES is an exciting new miniseries starring some of Jack Kirby’s coolest Fourth World characters by the writer of SHADE, THE CHANGING GIRL and the artist of PLASTIC MAN!
  • Man and Superman #1
