The Extinction Machines, Part Five

The best thing I feel I can say about this issue is it’s a step up from the last one. Somehow the initial story arc of this series failed miserably in my view.

I mean sure, you’ve got all the ingredients for a good story – Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, 2 Green Lanterns and Aquaman. And you’ve got 2 or 3 different groups of bad guys or guys who just want to cause trouble, or things that just want to blow up.

And that’s where things break down for me. While the Justice League won the day, I’m not sure what exactly they did. As they say, the big Kindred guys claim to have completed their song and achieved victory. Ok, but the League vanquished them.

Superman stopped the big glowy balls of explosive energy in the center of the Earth but then he used one of them to stop the Kindred.

And finally, there was something called the Purge. I am not really sure about this since it seemed in one case to be some kind of flying insects, and in another panel, it appeared as a bunch of Cyborg clones.

So the League won, and they lost. I just kinda feel like I lost since I was just confused about everything.

I suppose the reason I preferred this over the last issue is that there was a bit of character development. We see a relationship developing between Flash and Jessica, and Superman seems to be getting a bit more integrated into the League rather than just being the guy they call to fix everything.

Verdict

Give it a Read

The character development pushed this issue into the Read category even though it is right on the cusp of falling below that threshold.
