Training
Similar to Count Dooku from Star Wars: Age Of Republic: Count Dooku #1, not much is known about Jango Fett in the Star Wars universe (at least by me). He was introduced in the Clone Wars movie, but his impact was felt even before that in Empire Strikes Back where his son, Boba is instrumental in Han Solo’s saga. And while this comic doesn’t give us a whole lot of information on Jango’s background, it does go into a bit more into the relationship between Jango and his son Boba.
As known from the Clone Wars, Jango was the template for all the clones that were created. In this issue, we actually see Lord Tyranus make the offer to Fett and learn some of why he was chosen. We also see that Jango could have quit as a bounty hunter but instead continued to take jobs in part so he could train his son.
The story in this issue centers around one such job where Jango and Boba work with a team of hunters to track down and return a girl to her father. And while there are plenty of aliens, action scenes, betrayals, blasters and jetpacks, at the base, this is a story about a father and son. We see Jango’s ingenuity and his desire to pass on his cunning and resourcefulness to his son, and we see just how clever Boba is even at a young age.
It’s a fun one-shot that builds some of the backstories of both Jango and Boba while it ties in to some of the other lore with references to Cad Bane and Aurra Sing.
Verdict
I enjoyed the issue and gladly rate it a Read.
