Issue #3
Little Canto has set out on his journey in search of his beloved’s heart and only in success will her life be saved. His people have been slaves for as long as they remember but his destiny is to buck that fate and become a knight.
Thus far, his quest has taken him through a dark forest where he befriended a Malorex to a lake where he was swallowed by a giant beast. His search for a mysterious hermit continues in this issue as our hero runs into a slaver in the belly of the beast.
After strange tales of how the slavers used to be slaves and when someone called the Shrouded Man dominated the land, the slaver claims to actually be the hermit. (The story is much more clear than my description, please forgive me, I’ve been sick)
Sadly though, Canto learns that his trek to the hermit was not the end but only another one of his many trials. Now he must seek out the Shrouded Man in the Emerald Tower if he is to save his beloved.
Things do take a positive turn in the end though as the hermit trains Canto so that he might be able to defeat the evil Shrouded Man and win the heart of the one he loves.
I was enjoying the story up to this point but with the twists in this issue, I loving it even more. The art is beautiful and the characters are well defined, and now we are getting a better picture of the world Canto lives in and it sounds like this Shrouded Man is the source of all evil. Hopefully Canto can defeat him.
Verdict
Three issues in and I am happy to rate this issue a Must Read.
