Part V
Obi-Wan and Anakin followed a distress signal to a “dead” world that turned out to actually be living in a state of civil war for as long as anyone can remember. The inhabitants of Carnelion IV are split pretty evenly between the ‘Open’ and the ‘Closed’ but there’s a third faction comprised of a single person who is holding out hope that the Jedi can smack some sense into the warring factions and kill those who refuse to get along.
Apparently this third faction, comprised of a single woman, has seen images of the Dark Side of the force where someone was hacking and slashing with a red lightsaber. Hoping Kenobi and Anakin will kill all the warmongers, Sena begs the Jedi to intervene. Obi-Wan has other ideas since we all know the Jedi aren’t so easily swayed to go on a killing rampage.
While the Jedi Master delivers the news to Sena, one of the factions attacks using machines Anakin was forced to repair. Chaos ensues but both sides seem to settle on a single goal – kill Sena so they can keep fighting forever.
Beyond the fighting of the natives we have a significant story of Obi-Wan and Anakin going through growing pains as Anakin doesn’t believe the Jedi do enough to help everyone in the galaxy. He is ready to leave the Order before Yoda sends the two on this mission to Carnelion IV and we’ll see if he feels the same when all the dust settles.
This issue concludes the limited series and I think it wraps things up decently. Though there is a bit of a dues ex machina that helps the civil war, I like how things turned out with Anakin and Obi-Wan.
Verdict
I rate this issue a Read.
