DC Universe New Weekly Releases December 3, 2019

DC Comics started to release new comics to their DC Universe platform about a year after they enter circulation as floppies. With that in mind, I decided to list off those released each week as I do for Marvel Unlimited. The DC releases come out on Monday just like the Marvel comics but since they are pushed to their site in the evening I figured I’d publish their list on Tuesday…

Here’s the new stuff I’ve found this week that was released November 28th, 2018:

Top Comics This Week

17 new comics released today compared to 10 last week.  Looking at Comic Book Roundup which aggregates a bunch of review sites, here are the top issues from this batch of comics. Unfortunately, there were there we no issues that attained the level that I would call top Comics (8.5 rating from 2 or more sites) this week but the finale of the Drowned Earth event rated a 8.4 so I’ll put it here…

  • Aquaman: Drowned Earth Special #1
by Scott Snyder and Francis Manapul.
“DROWNED EARTH” finale! Aquaman faces the truth behind Atlantis’ past and must find a way to reclaim the power of his birthright or watch the floodwaters drown everything he has ever loved! With the world at stake and the Justice League on their last sea legs in their battle against the Ocean Lords, Arthur makes the ultimate sacrifice to return balance to land and sea!

Number Ones

DC actually had a Number One this week:

  • DC’s Nuclear Winter Special #1
by Paul Dini, Steve Orlando, Phil Hester, Mark Russell, Mairghread Scott, etc.
The holidays are tough enough as it is, but when you’re living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland (or, you know, 2018) the world can seem bleaker than ever. So do yourself a favor this holiday season, break out your best eggnog and enjoy 10 all-new stories featuring the World’s Greatest Heroes, including looks at the futures of Batman, Superman and the Flash, as well as many more denizens of the DC Universe.

Starting Points

Concluding Volumes

Some stories have been told and transform into something new.
Batgirl Vol. 5: Art of the Crime
In the finale of “Art of the Crime,” Batgirl may have uncovered Grotesque’s real plot, but that only means she knows the real danger that faces Jim Gordon and the GCPD! Can Barbara take down Grotesque before he pulls off a massive heist and ruins the GCPD’s rep in the process? Maybe, but it won’t be a paint-by-numbers job!

  • Batgirl #29
by Mairghread Scott, Paul Pelletier, and Norm Rapmund.

Detective Comics Vol. 9: Deface the Face
In these tales from DETECTIVE COMICS #988–993, Batman is hot on the trail of a murder suspect, but first he’ll have to get past Two-Face. Even though Harvey Dent seems to be asserting control, how long before he becomes a sociopathic criminal once again? What is Dent’s connection to the victim, and what does it all have to do with Kobra?! Whatever it is, it’s big enough to reunite Jim Gordon and former district attorney Harvey Dent, and that meeting alone is worth the cover price.

  • Detective Comics #993
by James Robinson and Carmine Giandomenico.
Two-Face… dead?! Did the multifaceted mafioso really get killed in a massive explosion? Batman’s the detective-let HIM figure it out! And that’s just what the Caped Crusader sets out to do, because something’s fishy about Dent’s latest demise. What the Dark Knight uncovers about his former friend not only threatens Gotham City, it’s big enough to threaten the whole world.
