Fourth Day of Blaugust2019
As the first week of Blaugust draws to a close we’re still getting new members and I think that’s great! We’ve got The Well-Red Mage and Ryan78134 on the Discord who’ve just signed up today and I can’t wait to see the creativity they bring to their blogs.
On the gaming side of things, I went and started up a character in Wakfu and I have to say, that game is a bit different. I also read through the origin story of the Black Panther in Avengers #87. The story is kinda close to the movie but of course being written in 1971 it’s you can tell it’s not from today’s politically correct environment.
Bug Stomping in Wakfu
Ok, this game was definitely different with a isometric type view and a tactical combat phase but it was pretty fun. I only got in about an hour of gameplay, and through part of the tutorial but it has potential.
My main issue was that the tutorial had a problem. I was able to work around it after some time but it pretty much put a stop on my progress for a while. Basically the game starts in a quite small window on my 4K monitor and I expanded it to full screen.
Things worked well in that mode for the most part until I got past the first map and on to an area where I had to start actual questing. The tutorial wanted to teach me about questing but the tip window was right on top of the quest window. Normal I would just move one of the windows, but I couldn’t get a handle on the either of them. Stuck!!!!
Eventually after trying multiple settings and adjustments, I quit the game went off and had some lunch.
When I got back, I tried again. Sure enough, the small window again to start the game, but this time the tutorial window was in a better place. I expanded back to full screen and the windows were on top of each other again. Fortunately I was able to make enough progress in the small window state and then re-enbiggen and make further progress in the tutorial.
Hopefully tomorrow I can get through the staring zone and into the game proper.
Origin of the Black Panther
Avengers #87 by Roy Thomas, Frank Giacoia, Sal Buscema, and Stan Lee. With the Avenger team back together after their interdimensional adventures of recent issues, they need a little down time to recover. T’Challa is homesick as well so he tells the tale of his beginnings. We learn of T’Chaka his father, how Klaw invaded Wakanda and killed him and the repercussions to the African nation. Like the movie, his boyhood friend betrays him as he’s coming into his kingship and it’s pretty cool how this story was developed way back in the early 70s but made it to the movies in the 2000s. It’s a pretty good issue and I’d recommend it for reading if you’re interested in learning about the beginnings of Black Panther.
Morning Ramble 25 | Fourth Day of Blaugust2019
Oooh, Wakfu! I liked the show as a kid and always was intrigued by the game but never got to it. May give it a try soon 🙂
