Ready for a Middle Earth Silence
Diving Back into LOTRO and Squirrel Girl
Actually, there’s really nothing silent about LOTRO particularly with my minstrel shouting as I take out the bad guys. Sure, I have a set of drums to use as my instrument but that doesn’t stop my yelling when I want to cause damage. And while I found it annoying at first, I have gotten used to the shouting and find some comfort in the patterns of syllables I utter in game. But then that’s a far different thing from the most recent Squirrel Girl issue I read. #36 actually doesn’t have much of a title but rather a symbol since there’s practically no dialog in the story – it’s a really cool way of telling the tale.
Heading back into Middle Earth
It’s been a couple of months but I’m feeling the itch to head back into Middle Earth. The LOTRO legendary servers, Anor and Ithil are still running and from my understanding they’ve opened up the first expansion of the game…Mines of Moria and I’m looking to level up to get into the new region.
I’ve never made it to the place I’m at right now in the game…levels 18 and 22 before, but I’m determined to make some more progress and catch up to the top of the level curve on the Legendary servers. It’ll take a bit of effort but I’ve enjoyed my time while playing, I just stopped having the opportunity to play for the last 2 months or so.
In any case, I’m excited to head back into Middle Earth and am ready to run through a bunch of new areas and learn some new skills and I think this weekend will be as good a time as any to make some advances.
The Sound of Silent Squirrels
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #36 MUTE by Ryan North and Derek Charm. Published by Marvel Comics 2018.
Actually, the title of this issue is a symbol rather than any words but it gets to the heart of the story. The whole thing takes place without any words.
And without any words the illustration and artwork really take a front seat and show that a really good story can be told simply through pictures.
The story revolves around a ghost who used to be a librarian and she demands silence so insistently, she even smacks the Avengers around to get her way.
In the end, Squirrel Girl figures out how to please the ghost, solves the problem, and saves the day.
I felt this was a definite fun Read and i really enjoyed the twist of having a story without any dialog.
It’s a Wrap
So, as you can see, Squirrel Girl was a lot of fun even without dialog and I’m amped up for running around in Middle Earth.
