2019MMM Waterfalls Round 1 Results

After the dramatic upsets from the Jump Jump round 1 matches I was expecting that anything could happen in the Waterfalls division and of course it did. This night’s battles featured a couple of victorious underdogs who were the beneficiaries of interference by outsiders but we’ll get to that as we recount the matches…

First off we see the Beaver slapped his tail at the mink and she ran outta the arena. leaving the industrious dam builder free to claim the win.

In the first fan influenced match fo the night, the Marine Otter was mugged, robbed, and killed by interlopers when Orcas swam into the battle arena. The Aquatic Genet just sat there and watched, winning the battle.

The Bulldog Bat was anything but a bulldog as he had to deal with freezing cold in the Moose’s natural habitat while the Moose merely cruised around the arena looking smug.

My underdog pick of the division, the Vontsira put up a valiant effort as she tweaked the nose of the Manatee but otherwise inflicted zero damage as she escaped to fight another day.

And in a similar theme seen in the Otter battle, interlopers messed with the outcome of the Peccary battle and the Rakali was the beneficiary, too bad there were no walls around the arena to protect the combatants from unwanted guests.

The Crab-eating Fox should have been called the Chicken Fox since he ran out of the arena with his tail between his legs. Too bad for the Fox but the Moonrat is pretty stinky.

The Lowland Tapir stomped around a lot and frightened off the Water Possum

The Flat-Headed Cat did what any self respecting cat would do…easily defeated the Water Chevrotain…a mouse, even it its really a deer.

On the whole, I suppose there weren’t any major upsets like the first night but we still see a number of lower seeds advancing. The 13th seeded Rakali took down the 4th seed White-Lipped Peccary or rather human intervention turned the Peccary into bacon while the Rakali watched. And in the other upset, a pod of Orca swam onto the field of battle and made a meal outta the #7 Marine Otter to the joy of the advancing 10th seed Aquatic Genet. Two upsets and two dinners…but neither were enacted by the competitors.

So much has happened and we’re only through half of the first round. Monday night will feature the Cat-e-Gory division facing off in Round 1 action followed by the Tag-Team on Tuesday.
