What I Read during Week 6 of 2019

This was a pretty hectic week with me focused more on reading through the graphic novels on my list than individual issues and since it’s Valentine’s Day and I don’t have much time to post, I’ll try to make this quick and short…

Comic Book Club:

  • Extremity 2 – 5: Artist by Daniel Warren Johnson. Published by Image – Skybound, 2017. This was a good read and very emotional. Vengeance, betrayal, and sympathy all play a part in this wonderful story. Read it.
  • Deadly Class Vol. 2: Kids if the Black Hole by Rick Remender, Wesley Craig, and Lee Loughridge. Published by Image, 2015. I loved this just as I loved the first volume and I definitely recommend the TV show on SyFy as well. I’ll give this a Must Read since enjoyed it and it fleshed out the characters even more than the first issue did.

Early Marvel

  • Avengers #1 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Published by Marvel Comics, 1963. Ant-Man, The Wasp, Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man join forces to take on Loki. How can he possibly stand up against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and how can this not be a Must Read.
  • Uncanny X-Men #1 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Published by Marvel Comics, 1963. Where it all began back in the 60s. Beast, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Angel and Iceman…of course the Professor is there as well. This is a Must Read as it also includes Magneto.

DC Universe

  • Gotham City Sirens #3 – 6 by Paul Dini, Scott Lobdell, Christopher Lost, and Guillem March. Published by DC Comics, 2009. The art in this series was nicely done and very dramatic. I particularly liked how Poison Ivy and her plants were portrayed. The 3rd issue caused me a bit of confusion but I still enjoyed the series overall. Read it.
