My Pull List for Week 4 of 2019
This week continues a few of the titles I’ve been enjoying like X-Men: Red, X-O Manowar, and Shazam! But I’m also looking forward to new titles like Jessica Jones and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Marvel Unlimited Weekly Releases
This week saw 23 new releases to the Marvel Unlimited library and from those I would like to grab these 7. There are a few others that look good but I am having a tough time reading everything on my pull list as it is so I’ll keep things to these 7.
- Jessica Jones #1 – Blind Spot by Kelly Thompson and Mattia De Iulis. Published by Marvel Comics, 2018. I really liked Thopmson’s work on Hawkeye so I am looking forward to this even though I haven’t read any Jessica Jones before. Hmm…I haven’t even watched to show on Netflix yet – maybe this’ll get me onboard.
- X-Men: Red #6 by Tom Taylor and Muhmud Asrar. Published by Marvel Comics, 2018. I’ve read the first couple issues of this title and enjoyed Jean’s attempts at bringing the team together and convincing the humans that mutants are not a threat but I’ll have to catch up to gain the full understanding of what’s going on in this issue.
- Cable #159 by Lonnie Nadler, Zac Thompson, and German Peralta. Published by Marvel Comics, 2018. This is the 5th issue in the story arc so I might actually jump back a few to get a better perspective on what’s going on in this series.
- Immortal Hulk #3 – Point of View by Al Ewing, Joe Bennett, Leonardo Romero, Paul Hornschemeier, Marguerite Sauvage, and Garry Brown. Published by Marvel Comics, 2018. This one has a ton of artists on it so along with loving the first two issues of this title, I gotta see what all that art is about.
- Star Wars #51 by Kieron Gillen, David Marquez, and Salvador Larroca. Published by Marvel Comics, 2018. With the Millennium Falcon on the cover I’m sure a bunch of people will pick this one up.
- Weapon H #5 by Greg Pak and Published by Marvel Comics, 2018. So far, this series has been pretty good and I don’t expect it’ll drop the ball here – I’m all in.
- The Life of Captain Marvel #1 Published by Marvel Comics, 2018 – With the movie coming up fast I wanted to get at least a little primer on Captain Marvel even if this isn’t the best starting point.
From DC Universe
- Young Justice #1-7 by Peter David, Todd Nauck, and Lary Stucker. Published by DC Comics Comics, 1998 – The DC Universe Book Club is looking for Young Justice this week and this series from 1998 fits the bill. While I’ve watched some of the cartoon I haven’t read any of the issues so far and this looks like a good starting point.
From Comixology:
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1 by Jordie Bellaire and Dan Mora. Published by BOOM! Studios, 2019. I have to give this a try since I’ve watched every episode of Buffy about 10 times.
- X-O Manowar #2 by Matt Kindt and Tomas Giorello. Published by Valiant Comics, 2017. With issue #23 coming out this week I want to make sure to keep pushing my reading of this title forward. I enjoyed the first issue and am looking forward to see where this goes. And the good new is that this issue is on Comixology Unlimited so I get it free.
- Freedom Fighters #2 by Robert Venditti and Eddy Barrows. Published by DC Comics, 2019. The heros fight back against Nazi America. I didn’t get to the first issue last time but I will this time around.
- Lucifer #4 by Dan Waters, Max Fiumara, and Sebastian Fiumara. Published by Vertigo, 2019.
- Shazam! #2 by Geoff Johns and David Eaglesham. Published by DC Comics, 2019. The first issue was a blast and while this one took a bit of time to get here I’m looking forward to it.
- American Carnage #3 by Bryan Hill and Leandro Fernandez. Published by Vertigo, 2019. I’ve enjoyed the first couple of issues and am looking forward to seeing where this goes since things were not looking good.
From Marvel Unlimited 1963:
This week should get me through 1963.
- Amazing Spider-Man #7
- Strange Tales #115
- Fantastic Four #21
- Tales of Suspense #48
- Tales to Astonish #50
