A Nice Start to a Career

Taylor Ward had a nice start to his MLB career on Tuesday as he went 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. It was also nice to see the Angels win again. Back over the .500 mark and once again, I hope it’s for good.

Only Needed 9 this time

The Angels only needed 9 innings this time to pull off a victory in San Diego. Justin Upton powered the offense again by belting his 26th home run of the season in the 5th inning and going 3 for 5 o the night. He wasn’t the only one hitting well though. Taylor Ward who was just called up to play 3rd base had a great start as I mentioned above. Tied in with Fletcher’s 2 for 5 night and Eric Young Jr.’s triple and the batters were feeling pretty good in the game.

On the mound, Jaime Barria threw 5 innings of 1 run ball and held the Padres in check. His 7 strike out performance allowed him to pick up his 8th win, the most among Angel’s starters. He’s now 3-0 in his last 4 starts and is looking pretty good.

But even though Upton had a great night and pushed his hitting streak to 7 games, I have to give Ward my Player of the Game. Any time someone can get called up and perform so well in their first game as a major leaguer, I have to applaud them.

In other news, at the top of the AL West Houston continued their nosedive and after losing 5 in a row stand only a single game ahead of Oakland for first place in the division. Gee, they kinda have trouble when they have injuries too.
