3 Home Runs and They Only Needed One

Kole Calhoun, Justin Upton, and Albert Pujols all connected for home runs in the game but with the solid pitching of Jaime Barria they only needed one.

Sweeping Away the Tigers

With the win, the Angels pulled off a much needed sweep of Detroit. It’s been a while since the team has won 3 in a row, much less swept a series, and it was certainly good to see as they made it back to .500 on the season. 58-58 isn’t good but right now it’s a nice place to be.

Once again the team was without Mike Trout but they were able to overcome that deficit and find contributors up and down the lineup. The way the team has been playing these past 3 games is much closer to what was expected when the season started. Too bad it’s taken 116 games for them to get to this point.

Calhoun, Simmons, and Marte each picked up multiple hits and everyone made it on base except for Kaleb Cowart. Opposing this were the Tigers who Barria held to 5 hits followed by the bullpen shutting them down completely.

Calhoun grabs my Player of the Game since his leadoff home run was the only scoring the Angels needed but he also picked up another hit and run, though I could easily have been convinced to hand it to Barria.

Things are gonna get tough in this next series and the Angels face the red hot Athletics. I just hope that with Trout back, the offense can perform even better than they have these past few games.
