Offensive Outburst
For a change, the Angels offense put up some good numbers without Mike Trout in the lineup. They managed to put together 13 hits and 11 runs and handily defeated the Tigers 11–5 on Tuesday. With Trout still out nursing his wrist a variety of contributors had to step up.
5 Multihit games
Five different Angels picked up multiple hits in the game – Ohtani, Upton, Simmons, Arcia, and Calhoun all grabbed 2 hits and made the game enjoyable to watch. It’s always good to be on the winning side of a double digit scoring spree.
On the mound, Andrew Heaney put together 5 innings of decent pitching though being spotted 7 runs in the first, he didn’t have much to worry about. With plenty of runs to spare he gave up 5 to the Tigers but they never really threatened to take the lead. Once he left the game, the bullpen prevented any scoring and did a great job.
While Heaney gave up a couple runs in the first Ohtani jumped on Detroit pitching as soon as the Angels came to the plate. He gets my Player of the Game for turning things around in the first and putting the Angels in the lead for good with his 3 run home run.
As the Angels inch closer to the .500 mark again they also received good news… Trout is supposed to be back in the lineup on Friday and hopefully his wrist will be all better and Ohtani is schedule to throw a bullpen session on Saturday to begin his next step towards pitching again.
