2 in a Row

The Angels inmproved thier winning streak to 2 in a row against the White Sox today and not only that they scored double digits for the second game in a row. It was fun to watch but as usual when they score so much I wonder if they will need those runs for other games. Oh well, you don’t get to mix and match scoring.

Another Big Offensive Game

Justin Upton nabs my Player of the game for going 4 for 5 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs but Ian Kinsler was close behind him. It’s nice to see people competing to outperform each other at the plate. Kinsler went 3 for 4 with a home run but Simmons had 2 hits, Calhoun had 2 hits, and newly acquired Francisco Arica had 2 hits including his first MLB home run. With this 2nd double digit scoring day, the team looked to be in much better spirits than I’ve seen in a while.

And the pitching wasn’t too bad either or rather they didn’t give up more runs that they were supported by. Actually, Nick Tropeano couldn’t seem to keep the ball in the yard but he kept all 5 home runs he gave up as solo dingers. I don’t think I’ve seen a game where a pitcher gave up 5 home runs and still won the game, but here it is…5 hit, 5 home runs…I guess that wasn’t that good of an outing but at least the offense kept the team ahead.

The bullpen didn’t do much better but they didn’t need to either. As a whole the pitchers gave up 8 runs and I’d expect to be upset by how bad the game was but for a change the Angels won a game when they gave up 8 runs and managed to pull off a split of the 4 game series.

So with the win Thursday the Angels are 3–4 since the All-Star break and I’m certainly hoping these 2 games with double digit scoring are a sign of things to come.
