Review of Green Arrow #4

Things are looking a bit better for Oliver Queen at first as he escapes the cops and meets up with John Diggle and Henry Fyff to figure out how to get his life back and stop the Ninth Circle. Unfortunately they soon discover that Dante and Emi have captured Black Canary and the laptop they want in exchange for her took a bath in Mountain Dew.

My Reading:

In the last issue, we saw Green Arrow confronted by the Seattle PD as he was escaping from the Queen Industries building with Shado chasing him. Fortunately he’s able to escape from them too with the help of Diggle and he was able to keep the laptop he stole safe.

Unfortunately, Black Canary’s plans to break into the Inferno, the floating fortress of the Ninth Circle, backfire and instead of saving Emiko, she is captured and things are not looking good as Emi and Dante are gonna use her to force Ollie to turn over the laptop.

Loyalties are a questionable thing in this issue as John Diggle apparently doesn’t like Oliver but he’s willing to help him…for now. And Shado bursts into the Inferno demanding to know that Emi is safe but she turns out to have the situation well in hand as she impresses Dante with her capture of Black Canary. Henry Fyff also reluctantly agrees to help Oliver with decoding the stolen laptop.

The team discovers the details of how the Ninth Circle has been funding all kinds of crime worldwide and Queen Industries has basically been selling them weapons. The laptop is full of incriminating evidence but as Dante and Emiko contact them to set up an exchange, Fyff drops soda all over the computer and they’ve gotta go to plan B…assault the Inferno.

What did I learn:

  • The Justice League does not look to favorably at Green Arrow.
  • From the looks of things, Diggle, Fyff, and Ollie were all part of the Green Arrow team previously but something split them up.

My Thoughts:

Once again the fact that there is less social justice warrioring going on in this issue and more superheroing makes me like it better than the Rebirth issue. And now that I’m understanding more of the interplay among the characters, things are getting more interesting.

I really like the Dante character and Emiko and Shado are pretty good. The three make a nice team of bad guys that seem pretty formidable.

And the goof that Fyff performs to destroy the laptop was priceless. I can see myself liking this series but I am getting anxious to move on to some of the other DC Rebirth titles.

My Rating: B
