First Inning Slugfest
Yesterday’s game was truly a first inning slugfest. It didn’t take long for both Wade LeBlanc (2–0 3.00 ERA) and Andrew Heaney (3–5 3.68 ERA) to run into trouble in last night’s game as they both were tagged for home runs in the first inning.
Trout hits 20 and 21
After the Angels knocked 2 HRs out in the first inning, Nelson Cruz hit a 2 run HR off Heaney in the bottom of the inning to tie up the game. Both Mike Trout and Albert Pujols went yard to start things off but that half inning was the only time the Angels lead the game.
Trout hit another home run in the 8th but it wasn’t enough to overcome the 5 runs Heaney gave up.
With his 20th and 21st Home Runs, Trout gets my Player of the Game though it all came in a losing endeavor.
These Mariners are pretty tough. They lost Robinson Cano to a 80 game PED suspension and they seem to be playing even better now. The Angels are now 5.5 back of them it they’ve got 2 more games tin this series and I think my team can get a lot closer. They’ve been playing pretty welł lately and if the bullpen can hold this Mariner team scoreless through 5 innings allowing only a hit and a walk’ I think they can take this series.
Today that series continues with Jaime Barria (5–1 2.48 ERA) going for my Angels against Mike Leake (6–3 4.46 ERA). Barria’s been pretty good so far I just wish the Angels stopped shipping him down to Triple A after every start he makes.
