Offensive Ensemble

The Angel bats came to life Tuesday as the offensive ensemble of Pujols, Kinsler, Valbuena, and Maldonado powered the team over the Tigers. After the troubles Monday with runners on base, it’s good to see a change.

4 HRs by 3 Players for the Win

The game yesterday featured Nick Tropeano (2–3 3.86 ERA) for the Angels against Michael Fulmer (2–3 4.08 ERA) for Detroit and while neither pitcher made it outta the 6th inning, Tropeano definitely pitched better. He ended up striking out 5 over 5 1/3 innings and scattered 7 hits. His only trouble was the home run ball of which he gave up 2 solo shots. He got more than enough offense to support him though.

For a change today, 4 Angels had multiple hit games and 3 of them got 3 hits. Pujols, Valbuena, and Kinsler all contributed to the offense and showed signs they may be turning things around. Kinsler and Maldonado hit the ball over the fence too, while Valbuena Knocked 2 out. It was a good site to see with so many players adding to the offense. I’m certainly hoping at least one if not more of these guys use this game as a catalyst to turn their season in the right direction.

With so many contributors it’s hard to pick one for my Player of the Game but the nod goes to Ian Kinsler. He’s been having a crappy season and this was by far his best game so far. Any time someone batting below .200 can put together a 3 for 3 game with a HR and a double, they deserve consideration for my Player of the Game, so he gets the award today. Hopefully this snaps him outta his slump.

The win also helps the team pick up a game on Houston who lost to New York. My team is still 4.5 back after their rough stretch that I hope is ending.

Today, Shohei Ohtani (4–1 3.35 ERA) takes the mound for the Angels against Mike Fiers (4–3 4.78 ERA) and we’ll see how the offense performs in support of the rookie phenom.
