First Look at Superwoman #1

Superwoman #1 takes a look at what is happenening in Metropolis in the aftermath of the Final Days of Superman.

With the death of Superman a power vacuum has developed in Metropolis with a number of super beings looking to wear his cape. First we have Lex Luthor who’s got some battle armor to provide him with abilities. Then there’s the Superman from a parallel Earth who’s been reluctant to reveal himself but is finally stepping up. Finally, there’s Superwoman…

There are Two Superwomen?

Lex Luthor who’s been flying around in his battle armor with a big “S” on his chest has claimed first dibs on taking Superman’s place. The problem is that he’s overreached and built a super carrier battle cruiser to sit in Metropolis Harbor to help him make the city safe.

So when something goes wrong with the carrier and his battle armor at the same time the city needs someone else to save it.

In steps…Superwoman or rather 2 Superwomen.

Apparently when Superman died in the Final Days of Superman storyline, he gave off a nova burst of energy and Lois Lane and Lana Lang both happened to be right next to him when it happened. The result is that Lois gained super strength and speed while Lana gained the ability to absorb and transform energy. And both are needed to stop the troubles Metropolis faces in this issue.

But even though they stop Lex’s carrier from destroying the McGuinness Bridge they still have to face the science experiment gone wrong inside the carrier.

I’ll rate Superwoman #1 a B+ and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in Metropolis going forward, though from what I see, it’ll be a bit down the road in the Rebirth story that I come back to Superwoman.
