2 HRs, Steal Baron, and Spidey’s Dating
Daily Ramble 215: 2 HRs, Steal Baron, and Spidey’s Dating
Wow! A new Spider-Man series, another Angel win, and a Baron steal! I feel pretty good about things right now and am looking forward to more. The Angel victory was close and high scoring but they pulled off a win against The World Champions…one more for the sweep. And in my gaming I was quite pleased to turn a lost game into a win by sniping the Baron with a well timed W-Q combo that spawned a shooting plant that downed the beast. Finally, I started up another Spider-Man title based on the list of weekly Marvel Unlimited releases – I started at #1 instead of 5 but I’ll catch up…
Stealing the Baron
Ive been having an up and down time of it in League of Legends these days but I recently made a play that completely turn a game around. It’s not often I have such an impact on a match but it sure made me feel good.
The match was cruising along and we were falling further and further behind. They had all our outer turrets down and at one point had even taken down our mid inhibitor. We were losing by over 10k gold and things were not looking good for us. Fortunately I was playing Zyra who I know pretty well.
The opposing team decided they were gonna grab the Baron and finish the game. Their Olaf started things out and Morgana and Veigar were zoning my team from the area. The beast was going down fast but I was able to get close and drop a seed and as I was backed off by Morgana’s Dark Binding, I fired off my Q. The seed blossomed and started shooting the Baron since the new AI only targets enemy champions if there’s nothing else to shoot or you hit them with your Q. I missed Olaf so the plant started firing on the Baron. That’s when the magic happened…Olaf cast smite on the Baron and knocked the beast down to 17 HP…oops. My plant easily did that amount of damage and like Han Solo, my plant fired first. Bam, the Baron went down and we got the buff.
We went on to win the game now that we had the bonus.
First Look at Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #1
Untitled by Chip Zdarsky, Adam Kubert, and Jordan Bellaire. Published by Marvel Comics, 2017.
This is a pretty good first issue. I decided that since the #1 came out not to long ago, that I’d start there. This week, the 5th issue arrived on Marvel Unlimited and from what I’ve read in this issue, I think it’s an interesting title that I’ll keep reading at least until #5.
There are actually 2 stories in this issue with the first taking up most of the pages and leading to what looks to be the longer term arc. In it, Peter hangs out with Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, and gets some assistance in fighting crime from Ant-Man. There’s also a cameo from Falcon where we learn that a bunch of the heroes in New York come to a guy named Hophini Mason for high tech gadgets. Spidey’s more familiar with his brother, the Tinkerer, but Mason is the good version of that guy.
The story seems to point to the idea that this series might be focused a bit more on Parker’s personal life as he meets a woman named Rebecca (actually he saves her from a robbery) London who passes him her phone number. He later sets up a date with her after being harassed by Aunt May that he needs to meet more girls.
In any case, Peter is tracking down a hacked Stark Phone he found at the robbery and it leads him to Chicago. Where he encounters someone I had no clue who it was but after research figured out it was Ironheart? And while he’s “negotiating” with her, Johnny Storm is waiting for him back home and runs into Spidey’s sister?
A whole bunch of questions and that’s exactly what I like to see in a new series.
Then there’s the second story which brings Black Window into the book but she’s working for some mysterious guy. He’s got her attacking Spidey to figure out the extent of this abilities and it certainly sounds nefarious.
Between the 2 stories this is a good first issue and I rate it a B+ and look forward to reading the next few issues.
This comic can be found on Marvel Unlimited, Comixology or at your local comic book shop.
A Close One
Now that was a serious game and it brought the Angels to the longest roAd winning streak they’ve had since 1988. 11 in a row on the road and hopefully tomorrow will make it 12.
The game was definitely one to watch as both teams fought hard and end up with an 8–7 battle. The Angels struck first in the opening inning with Mike Torut’s 10th home run. Simmons added to that in the 2nd with his own HR. And with 2 on in the 7th, Simmons smacked a second one.
While Houston put up a good fight with homers by Fisher and McCann, they fell short in the end to the determined pitching of 6 Angels hurlers. Ohtani started things out with 5 1/3 innings and he looked decent but ended up giving up 4 runs. Fortunately the bullpen had a bit of a break yesterday and were able to throw over 3 innings holding off the Astros.
With the 2 home runs, Simmons also picked up 5 RBIs on a 3 for 5 night and he gets my Player of the Game for Tuesday.
