Daily Ramble 214: Weekly Releases and Road Sweet Road
Getting back on the road can be a positive thing and for the Angels, it’s just what the doctor prescribed. They had a horrible home stand and hopefully this short road trip will be enough to get them back on track. Beyond watching the game, I also caught up on the new releases from Marvel Unlimited. While I might not read all these this week I’ll use them to pick a few titles to start up.
Marvel Unlimited New Weekly Releases
Marvel releases comics to the Unlimited platform about 6 months after they come out in paper format so this week we are seeing comics from October 18, 2017. In an effort to try to read some more “modern” issues, I’ve been tracking what’s currently being released and trying to catch up from recent number ones…we’ll see how that goes.

Road Sweet Road
I have to take a quick break before I comment on the Angel/Astro game Monday to express some schadenfreude about how the great Red Sox have fallen flat when they’re not graced with a favorable umpiring crew. When opposing pitchers are able to throw the ball around the strike zone without being forced to throw it down the middle…look how the vaunted Red Sox hitters played. The same week they were granted a miniscule strike zone for opposing Angel pitchers, they were No-Hit by Oakland with normal umpires.
Now on to the game…
The Angels headed back on the road and welcomed it with open arms. Actually, a strong arm in the left one of Tyler Skaggs. Facing Gerrit Cole who’s 0.96 ERA entering the game was the second lowest in the AL, Skaggs came out ahead with a 2–0 win.
It was pretty much a pitcher’s duel with the Angels only gathering 4 hits and getting on base 7 times. 2 of those were Trout, with a hit and a walk, he also picked up 2 stolen bases. I have to give my Player of the Game to Skaggs today though since he not only stopped the Angel skid but also allowed the bullpen some needed rest. His 7 inning pitched seems like it’s the most from an Angel starter in like forever.
I also gotta hand it to Martin Maldonado who threw out Yule Gurriel at third base to end the game…what a throw!
