A Cooled Off Hulk beats Frustration in Gaming and Sports

Daily Ramble 209: A Cooled Off Hulk beats Frustration in Gaming and Sports

I’m glad I’m enjoying my comics these past few days since my time watching the Angels has proven frustrating. Once again I feel the umpires aren’t giving the team a fair shake and it’s pissing me off. Fortunately they’re still in first place in their division but it still sucks to have umpires making bad calls. I also had to deal with a 60 minute SMITE match my team should have won but didn’t. Here’s to hoping tomorrow proves to be an improvement.

First Look at Totally Awesome Hulk #2

Cho Time: Part Two by Greg Pak and Frank Cho. Published by Marvel comics, 2016.
In this issue, Amadeus Cho goes up against Lady Helłbender, the monster queen of Seknarf Nine, and while Hulk is against hitting a girl, he has no qualms when she attacks his sister.

Apparently she’s just looking for a good fight and since she grabbed Hulk’s attention, Spider-Man and She Hulk had step in to stop Hulk from pounding her to dust. They convinced him to cool down but when she starts fondling their collection of miniaturized monsters and shows them her menagerie, Maddy starts to become concerned that she’s building an army.

This issue is a pretty decent continuation of the story from the first and it also provides more information about what happened to Bruce Banner. I’m figuring we’ll know the details soon as they keep adding more each issue.

I rate this issue a B-, a drop from the A last issue but I’m still enjoying the story and art.

This comic can be found on Marvel Unlimited, Comixology or at your local comic book shop.

60+ Minutes of Conquest

Ever since I lost all my placement games in my first introduction to SMITE ranked gameplay, I’ve been a bit wary of playing ranked. I’ve dabbled in normal play – joust, clash, conquest, and arena – but I haven’t wanted to subject myself to losing more in ranked.

This past weekend, I finally got up the nerve and gave it a shot…and I was pleasantly surprised. I actualły won 3 in a row, 2 games with Kukulkan and one with Aphrodite. For the most part I felt pretty good so I kept going and quickly lost my next 2 matches.

Yesterday I tried another match and boy was it a doozy. For the first part of the game I was sure we’d win. I was dominating mid lane as Sol against a Silver 3 rated Nox. While I wasn’t killing her I was zoning her outta lane and causing her to back a bunch. Eventually I knocked down the mid turret as the first downed turret and I started to roam to other lanes.

We soon had the left turret down and were well ahead. We were dominating but my team seemed to have a problem pushing our advantage. We pushed down both right turrets and grabbed the gold fury and were up by many thousands of gold. I was pretty happy to be turning my luck around and felt confident that we’d win – particularly when we took down the last mid turret and both mid and right phoenixes. We were on our way to winning.

But then the other team got super tanky. One thing I’ve got to learn in SMITE is how to itemize better since I feel that I start to fall off with Sol as everyone bulks up on hit points. I grab items that have magic penetration but it doesn’t seem to get through all the HP and I really feel that it takes me forever to injure someone – they either run away or die…so long that I rarely survive long enough.

So as they got tanky, things started to turn around. At one point we had their Titan down to less than 10% hit points but they saved it. And then they started moving on out turrets. Their Athena and Achilles started soaking up our damage while their Loki and Medusa started actually doing damage.

60 minutes into the game and our Cu Chulainn decided that even though this was ranked he’d had enough and he quit. 4 minutes later we’d lost.

Over an hour of effort and we should have won at 20 minutes or so. It was frustrating and draining.

Angels/Red Sox Game 2

Another loss and this time the Angels didn’t even mount any kind of offense. I’m wondering if they became demoralized by Tuesday’s game and bad umpiring, but they had to deal with it again on Wednesday. I actually got a few screenshots of the calls this time at least, not that it makes any difference. This umpiring crew is obviously having some problems right now.

Here’s a strike called on Mike a Trout in the 5th…

And here’s a ball to Moreland in the 7th…

And these next two are almost the same place with different results depending on which pitcher was on the mound…

A Ball…

A Strike…

Maybe he just liked the slower pitches?

Not sure what’s up with these officials but they sure know how to cool off a team that was on fire. It’s just a shame when umpires treat pitchers differently based on which team they’re on.

Hopefully the series finale will feature an umpire that’s not so biased.

For my Player of the Game, I’ll name Ian Kinsler who went 2 for 2 with a walk and is playing pretty well since he came off the DL.
